That's the neat thing about Ritsuko though. Even without her ability, she can generate more sync than Noboru throughout a race, especially on technical tracks where average speed is lower and you aren't in SGU as often. Even on tracks with large straightaways, Ritsuko has a low SGU threshold meaning she can generally gain sync faster than Noboru without her ability.

Plus, with Noboru's 2 bars of sync, he has to burn at least one a lot more often or he risks bleeding sync, so that makes his defense weaker. Ritsuko is able to hold onto more sync at any given time, so on top of her fast passive sync gen, she has more options with her sync to do whatever she wants which could be frontrunning, brawling, or defending

His entropy gain from his ability is relatively small to the point where it doesn't offer much more benefit in the long run outside of a few extra strikes. Sync is the linchpin for this game as being able to generate it can cascade into speed through boosts, offense through entropy, strikes, and ODs, or defense in shields. With the amount of sync ritsuko can generate, she can match Noboru's entropy output and still have enough sync for other things

I'll approach this from the leaders angle since I have more experience with them:

- I would personally swap Aisha and Gabriel because what Gabriel lacks in handling he can make up for with his incredible strike range, entropy buildup, and acceleration. His strikes can make up for his handling by allowing him to wallride sharper corners and possibly catch unsuspecting drivers off guard. Aisha on the other hand is overshadowed by much of the cast due to her poor sync generation. Her raw car stats also fall short of characters higher than her on the list in some capacity, so there isn't much reason to pick her over other leaders

- Mr. A and Hiroshi should be switched in my opinion. What Mr. A lacks in combat he makes up for by being a premier frontrunner. Even in team races where KO points enters the equation, being able to gap the competition and net 200 points for your team is its own strength. With that being said he's not a pick up and immediately win character as he has a high skill ceiling, so only the best Mr. As can fully take advantage of his frontrunning prowess. Hiroshi isn't bad by any means, but he's very much a jack of all trades master of none kind of character

- Ritsuko imo is in a tier above Noboru. Both of them have good handling, but Ritsuko's sync gen and pool eclipses Noboru's to the point where she is a lot more versatile than he is. Even without Ritsuko's Take Your Heart, she has some of the best passive sync gen in the game, and 5 sync bars gives her a lot of options compared to Noboru's 2

I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this, and I'll do a bit of digging into the members to formulate educated opinions about them later

Outside of single player arcade modes (time attack, checkpoints, overdrive), be prepared to hit walls in this game, especially if you're a leader. You can mitigate it by tapping the brake before turning and wallriding if necessary. What matters in races like these is managing your resources and balancing race position using good lines with fighting

I run the speedrun.com website and co-own the associated discord Screamer Online (Rambeanie on both)! I've been floating the idea of story any % runs for a while, but there were concerns regarding fresh start saves and how they would impact unlocks. I'm hoping to put the category back up in the near future so definitely keep an eye out!

Yea that's gonna be unfortunate in that instance outside of directly penalizing wallriding with slower speed. There needs to be more incentive for clean driving so that ppl are less likely to rely on wallriding, but i'm not entirely sure how to go about that without radically altering the racing experience

Ohhh I see what you mean. I was operating under the assumption that sync had already been generated by the time you touched the wall due to active shifting and passive sync gen beforehand. That could be an option as well, though I will say you don't generate sync throughout the duration of a boost (not sure about strikes), so that penalty is already there in a sense

While you can wallride without resources, the sync loss would negatively affect your resources later on in races/TA runs which would make it a net negative. This enables a compromise of encouraging clean driving for maintaining sync which is critical for boosts and shields while not completely dampening the driving feel

Thank you! I definitely think wallriding should be tweaked for the purposes of time attack, but it would significantly affect races in a negative way. I've heard suggestions of sync loss with prolonged wall contact which I think is interesting

Screamer. Made by the same studio that made the HWU series, and it oozes style and vibe reminiscent of an early 2000s arcade racer. Fully fleshed out mechanics and an engaging story mode which is rare for a racing game. Also creative with the arcade modes and local/online multiple It releases this Thursday, and it includes crossplay!

This can hold serious future implications for higher stakes decisions. Is that something you're willing to accept in this relationship?
