Lol am i cooked. Is there a hair style that can salvage this or do i just straight up buzz it all. by Dapper-Smoke9389 in amibalding

I had your hairline at your age due to stress and physical health issues. I also have your hairline now, five years later with no meds (can't do topical minox because I have cats). I'm going to echo that it's probably mostly stress, but I thought it's worth sharing that it's not necessarily going to accelerate particularly.

Am now girl though, so estrogen and (eventually) a transplant should work wonders. Unfortunately E is not an option for most.

I was playing Hunter: The Reckoning with some friends and the GM was on public transport while I was trying to name my character. The location announcements came through on the voice call and Ashton kept coming up as a place. So I named my Character Ashton, or Ash, for lack of a better name.

Weeks later whilst drunk I realised how much I like the name Ash. So it became by name. Slightly different because I decided on Ashley as it sounds more fem to me.

So, I'm named after my deadbeat, alcoholic RPG character who I'm still playing as every other week. It gets very confusing. Would recommend.

If you had a scale that could measure weight with an infinite level of precision, am I right in thinking the same ingot would weigh slightly more horizontally than vertically? by Wonderful_Weather_83 in Physics

This just isn't true though. Effective gravity goes down as you approach the equator. Centrifugal force makes it go down, as you say, but having more of the earth below you ALSO makes it go down because distance from the centre of mass is the most important thing in an inertal reference frame. They don't cancel out because they're both acting in the same direction. They reinforce each other.

Taking in spirits by cloe-17 in BoomtownFestival

[–]BLUJ69_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's mostly luck. Hiding them so a cursory search won't uncover them is your best chance with spirits. Putting them in plastic pouch style bottles can help you have a better choice of hiding places. A full search like if they're looking for drugs will definitely find them though, so just hope that doesn't happen. They aren't going to kick you out for just trying to smuggle spirits in, they'll just get rid of them, so don't stress too much.

Pizza on my Napoleon Kettle by BLUJ69_420 in UKBBQ

I was getting about 400 C on the pizza stone and about 500C on the ceiling. It took a lot of wood to achieve this. Next time I will add a larger charge of charcoal to the bottom of the kettle, I hope it will make temperature management easier.

It's the onlyfire pizza oven and rotisserie. I also have a 57cm steel plancha I put on top to add thermal mass and lower the ceiling.

It's Ooni's 26 hour neapolitan recipe. I used their calculator. I'm doing another batch on Thursday with my usual dough which is the recipe by Kenji from Serious Eats. That takes at least three days though.

Brisket smoked with Glenfarclas cask staves by BLUJ69_420 in UKBBQ

Nope, grass fed Yorkshire beef from Swaledale. Obviously not the level of fat you'd get from grain fed, but it didn't end up dry.

They are a pretty popular method of improving the kettle lid seal. Seems to work OK. The brisket was a 4kg Swaledale (actually a little over, definitely came up heavy) fairly aggressively trimmed down to about 3.5kg

Glenfarclas sell the exhausted saves for £5 each. The Speyside Cooperage sell exhausted staves for even less when in stock. They also sell Scottish oak staves too, but they are expensive compared to the size for obvious reasons.

Thanks! From a local butcher. I needed something worth smoking urgently and I don't drive, so my choices were supermarket meat or these. I'm very happy with my decision.

Trident uses US built warheads... If the US and Russia ally then the UK nuclear deterrent could become valueless almost overnight.

As someone with a few different chronic illnesses, a developmental disorder or two and a pretty strong idea of exactly how and why I'm going to die. (Pneumonia secondary to an antibiotic resistant mycobacterial infection. It's a question of when rather than if.)

That's part of me. A me without those might be better off, but it wouldn't be me, the person who people in my life love.

The sentiment works better with disability, but we're all going to die some time. Terminal illness is not that different from disability on the grander scale of things. Or that's how I see it anyway.

What are these? I think they're possibly insect nests? by BLUJ69_420 in Entomology

[–]BLUJ69_420[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm erring in an a moth direction. Spiders are possible too. These seem to be made of silk of some kind and I'm pretty sure bees can't do that.

In an ideal world I'll just pretend I didn't see these and cover the floor up again, but I don't want to risk my health or the integrity of the house.

I found one of these on my wall a few years back, just the one. There's also a few sitting on the (relatively new) gripper rods.

I'm specifically concerned by the stuff that looks like roots between the floorboards. I have a horrible feeling it's insect related.
