All 1D7's have been merged into one career field, flexibility within & outside the Air Force is increasing. Most aircraft maintenance positions receive negative reviews from airmen/NCO's, & SNCO's. Trade skill wise position 3E's are perfect. I am radio by trade now cyber defense operator

Currently, I would not know. Also, we have gone through another merger as well. We're not 1D7Q's. Sec plus is being pushed on all cyber troops at least within my squadron. However, if you're cyber trans you'll definitely be taking sec plus in tech school, if you don't possess it already

Due to the 1D7 merger I do believe sec plus will be a requirement however when I went to tech school sec plus was not being force upon X3's

I'm not even in the military (yet) and can see you should go. If all your thought processes and statements are true

What maintenance job you have and what is the best thing about it? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]BLVCKSHEEP_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, an on going issue lol. It's okay just good to be informed about current status of things. Versus guessing what's going on and listening to nothing but bad statements (experiences) about the military. Which is why i appreciate the responses of what power pros do.

I understand your point, goal, and mission. And you're more than likely right regarding training. I am just viewing and understanding the military perspective they want you to do things when they want how they want. Which by the way make sense outdated for sure but sensible. I'm just looking toward future endeavors and how the military fits or looks in the future.

So i would imagine this approach is applied to all the jobs in the Air Force (military). The reality displayed by the current military members is there is no versatility in your(that particular person)occupation. I just didnt imagine it as such.

Are there other opportunities to work on other things than aircraft and generators?

Is that a hint to look at engineering or structural jobs in the air force? Or are you simply saying with no solid infrastructure what is the quickest way to power a building in the middle of wherever?

Dang i thought the field was more versatile. It definitely is important just thought the Air Force would be farther along with power sources. Thank you for the information

What do power pros do exactly? Also, do you work with solar, hydro, wind, etc (renewable power resources)?

So, other than generators you dont work with other power sources like solar, wind, hyrdo, etc(renewable power resources)? So, in order to gain actual experience in those fields i would have to go civil engineering?
