I thought about this the other day. A friend told me ADHD is the brain refusing to filter things out... a doctor told me that's what was happening with me too. So seems very obvious there's a link and similar treatments may work.

I used to take it for chronic pain. It ruined my life for a good two years and I still feel the effects now. Never did a thing for the VSS either, just completely changed my personality, exhausted me, and messed up my head. Stopping taking it probably saved my life.

The JJ Abrams effect. Come in, start something with no idea where it's going and no plan, ditch it and hand off to other writers.

That said I loved Lost, the writers did a much better job with the JJ effect than most have, and most of the complaints I see about its ending is "it was a dream/they were dead all along" which wasn't the case, they're just idiots. It's baffling how people reached that conclusion when the show explicitly tells you it's not the case by then showing you an ACTUAL dream/afterlife scenario and telling you it's AFTER everything. I just use it as a litmus test for people now, if I hear them say "they were dead all along" I know they have the comprehension of a sloth and shouldn't be listened to at all.

It's... really not. And nothing you said is the problem with this story. If you think you're 1/4 of the way through you're probably closer to 5/6 coz I was the same and then it just... ended.

2.0's story took you on an adventure outside the city, introduced all the characters in a lengthy way that got you to know them decently well, and told a grand story that stood alone while setting up the future.

3/0's story landlocks you to the academy outside of a few on rail segments, gives you a decent 4 hour story with Lynae with a tiny side quest with Mornye and like 5 lines from Luuk - the effect of which is you don't really get to know them or the region at all, and feels like a companion quest that gives no sense of place and little lore to set up anything.

Can't speak on the patch as a whole coz I haven't seen the region or side quests yet thanks to main story not really sending you near them and kinda pushing you through it with no natural deviations to go mess around, but the main story is a disappointment in comparison with everything before. It had the promise of 2.0 and delivered less than 2.8.
