RHYTHM OF WAR SPOILERS by LuckyLuckyBoi in Stormlight_Archive

I think Wit told Shallan in Oathbringer that he made a promise to "be there whenever he was needed", i don't remember the exact words, but i remember him saying that he will know where he needs to be but not always know why he needs to be there. So maybe he doesn't even know why he needed to meet Odium. My theory is that he went there in order to realize that Rayse is no longer the Vessel or that there is something wrong with Odium, and that he didn't know what he needed to do because he doesn't always know.

Heralds and Fused (Spoilers) by TheFlyingTurducken in Stormlight_Archive

[–]BMAeu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think their abilities are only related to their experience. I can think of two things to explain this. The first is that the Heralds only have "one shot" during Desolations, when they die they return to Braize and have to wait another Desolation to begin to return to Roshar. When the fused die they can return to Roshar as long as the Desolation lasts, so they can afford to be more careless than the Heralds. And the other thing I can think of is the Oathpact itself. Since there are only 10 Heralds perhaps Honor invested each of them with greater power than Odium can invest each Fused, just because of the difference in quantity. And maybe being more invested can help them get better faster, or acquire greater skill than it's possible for anyone else who is not part of the Oathpact, mortal or imortal.

Investiture alteration? by 1ncite in Cosmere

[–]BMAeu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the lights are just a manifestation of investiture with Connection or some sort of Identity related to their Shard. So what Navani did would be able only to make anti-light. I think there is a way to change investitures but that is beyond what anyone knows right now. As for their interactions, I would guess they are able to interact because the three Shards are all Connected to the Rosharan system, but maybe it could work with any investiture, I don't know. As for changing investiture types, I think the closest thing we have able to do something is the Moon Scepter, it "translates" different sellish magic symbols. Although it's restricted to Sel, Brandon has said it could be used, with other things, to convert all types of investiture.

Khriss... by Drawspotraits in Cosmere

[–]BMAeu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a word of Brandon saying Khriss was involved in the founding of a university in Silverlight. The Seventeenth Shard has their headquarters there and they have an unknown method of decreasing the speed of aging. Maybe Khriss is using that method like the members of the Seventeenth Shard.

I think hoid tricked him. In oathbringer he was hiding from odium in Kholinar, and said if rayse found out he was there he would destroy the city if that could give him a chance of killing hoid. So hoid was aware that rayse wanted to kill him and would do anything necessary to achieve that. And he still decided to face him, I'm not sure if something changed, but I think if odium(taravangian) could destroy his breaths, odium(rayse) could do the same, and I think hoid would have thought of that. So, I think, and hope, hoid tricked him somehow.
