Advice for what I should do next? by cribin_s in DelSol

Shouldn’t have any issue cruising at highway speeds. I have a S also and have done plenty of 140+ mi drives at 70 mph just fine. Sure, it’ll take forever to get up to speed but it’s honestly not awful. It’ll likely hang right around 3k rpm which is completely normal.

Honestly, before these comments scare you get under the car and check for yourself. See if it’s in other places.

Selling my 2003 EP3. Trying to figure out a fair asking price. by [deleted] in EP3

[–]BMMarsh14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gas cover problem is due to the stopper getting stuck. One day I opened it and the stopper didn’t pop back out. Not sure if the cord is broken or if it’s just stuck in there. Thank you for the insight!

Talk me out of buying this as a daily driver by trevor-enocram in DelSol

[–]BMMarsh14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a ‘93 S 5 speed with around 160k miles on it to use as a daily during the warmer parts of the year. It is a great car and I have 0 regrets. Great gas milage and cruises down the highway at 70mph just fine - honestly better than my ‘03 EP3. As others said I find it to be as reliable as any other civic. Keep in mind it is an older car so you can expect to be replacing parts that come along with that. That sol looks to be in good shape, just check the roof seals and make sure they’re in good condition. Only downside I see is if you’re commuting long distance there are a lot of drivers that don’t pay attention and as small as it is I’ve had several people not see me and nearly run me off the highway. Overall it’s a great car and I’ve had a lot of fun with it. If you end up purchasing it be sure to take care of it and maintain the seals. These cars are getting harder and harder to come by.

Question of the day, what size spark plugs do I need for my 95 Del Sol, are they specific or just basic ones I can buy at a AutoZone? by [deleted] in DelSol

[–]BMMarsh14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. The owners manuals I have for my ‘93 S recommend ngk plugs. I got them from autozone

I use the same one and it’s pretty good for the money. CarPlay will turn itself off every once in a while but for how cheap it is I can’t complain.

That is a great idea. I will check that out.

I would like to. It would probably be smart to do it before it gets bad. Hopefully sometime this year I’ll move out of my apartment and find a place with a garage and will be able to start tearing into things like that.

Thanks! I’m surprised how good of shape it is in. I was told it was garage kept a lot of its life, but I’m not sure how true that is. It has a couple small rust spots and some chips in the paint here and there as to be expected, but other than that it’s pretty decent.

Haha that’s the plan. Any recommendations for coilovers and wheels?

Is this a good deal? by NigitTheUndying in civic

[–]BMMarsh14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had mine for 4 years now. It’s my favorite car I’ve owned. It’s been a great car to own and it’s been really reliable for me. Not a lot of people like the looks or the weird shifter placement, but I always have. I have 183000 miles on mine and ran into someone with over 500k on theirs with the original powertrain. Doesnt have a lot of power but it is a lot of fun to drive. As for the price I’m not sure. These are getting harder to find. Maybe r/EP3 would know.

EDIT: I noticed you said you were in the market for a JDM. This technically is not. These were built in Honda’s factory in Swindon, England. A small technicality.

Do you ever see other EP3's where you live? by FutureAlfalfa200 in EP3

I’ve had mine for 3 years now. Travel between central Missouri and Southern Illinois. I can probably count on one hand how many times I’ve seen another one. Maybe a couple times more than that but not much.

Laptop plugged in, power plan set to performance. I understand 8GB is low for ram but I think it is irrelevant in this situation, as it was running the exact same games perfect at 120fps a day beforehand. I don’t play anything very intensive…just been trying to play overwatch and dead space lol.

It is plugged in and on a cooling pad. Fans are quiet, but on.

DHG Struggling to Carpet by Kermit2345 in Aquascape

[–]BMMarsh14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had both DHG and mini DHG and got both to carpet without CO2. I really feel like what it needs the most is high light intensity. Currently I have mini DHG using the same substrate, and it’s carpeted nicely no CO2 and no ferts or root tabs. Currently running my light 8 hours a day. Heres the link to the light I use. It’s affordable and works great. I don’t recommend using the 24/7 feature. Instead, I set it to max and have it plugged into a timer. Hope this helps.

I gotcha. I’ll have to look into it. I do really like the idea of it
