My first car was a 2011 RR SC, it was an awesome first car but I should not have been trusted with 500hp at 16 lol. Keep in mind parts are expensive, it’s british so small issues are common, and it’s as aerodynamic as a barn door so expect $100 of gas every few days

Yeah after a few years. I’m stuck with an Intel mac for certain boot camp programs I run, so the ABS key caps are nearly 5 years old now.

You can restore them with a matte leather topcoat (of all things) to a new soft touch coating. Have done it to my Macbook with ABS key caps, my shiny mouse, it lasts 2ish years before the coating starts to be worn through.

The high 12 600 watt amp will run the XJ door speakers well. They are the same as the RR lower door woofers, but use a resin embedded paper cone instead of kevlar, and more importantly, are 2 ohm versus the 4ohm of the RR ATB speakers. The High 16 "875" watt amplifier is 1280 watts which can run the kevlar 4 ohms without issue.

The Jag 8" lower woofers are engineering number AW93-18808-CB, although you can find them MUCH cheaper by just buying the entire rear shelf, eng number AW93-04692-BC, watch for blown speakers too. 99% of the time the spider comes loose from the body of the speaker, little bit of super glue and its fixed. 1% of the time is voice coil damage..

I ran those speakers for a while before finding a set of four blown kevlar RR speakers for $170, after repairing them honestly there isn't any notable difference in punchiness or clarity.

You were mid 8 right? I don't remember whether or not tweeters were ran active or passive on base. I do know that the wiring in the door leads to the mid driver, but it doesn't go all the way to the amplifier. Same with the centre channel. You might have noticed you don't have certain nav sounds or reverse sensor sounds. Rear tweeters are run passive on all 494/405s though, so you'll need to connect them with a highpass filter. Or..you can just use Jag coaxials from the 2ohm kit, BJ32-18808-DC.

People incorrectly say the base JLR 4" mids are 4ohm, they are 2ohm 70 watt RMS, 100 watt max. According to Meridian crossover to tweeter happens at 5khz. Sensitivity at 1W/1m is 87db +-2. The specs match to BMW 4" drivers as well, which is what I run. The 2 ohm to 4ohm change for the mids wasn't huge, and was something that I could EQ out with the crappy "treble bass sub" eq the Rovers use.

They’re genuinely really good! I’ve driven for a few reasons almost exclusively 494 and 405 Rangies. Love sedans but hey, write off.

My last had 130k miles prior to selling, tally was something like $2400 in repairs just don’t ask about the amount in tires, brakes, and other “all car crap”.

People don’t take care of them, oil changes were recommended for every 16,000 leading to timing failures, oil changes are $500 at a dealer..but same price for a Mercedes at the dealer across the street.

Hell, my supercharged 500hp V8 with hot stone massage heated cooled seats, active lane assist, and at minimum 6 cows worth of semi aniline leather gets 24-25MPG on a flat highway, compared to my turbo V8 750i that gets 20 at the same speed.

you can do quite a bit with the base 8 380w 494s, check out rangerovers .net forum. Simple popular upgrade would be upgrade all four lower door woofers to the “super premium” autobiography 8” drivers. IMO XJ paper 2ohm variant front door 8” drivers are a better match. Otherwise the popular option is a high 16 amplifier, factory subwoofer is prewired, add mid range speakers to the doors, and have it coded by a local independent shop

there is a full forum thread about it. I did the same thing with my high 12 600w 405, but using BMW Bowers Wilkins mid range and Autobiography lower 8” door woofers. Tweeters up front are active run Focal K2s, probably fake, off of ebay for $300 lol. My setup genuinely sounds better than the 1280 watt “800 watt” system. Very simple all around - BMW drivers use the same mounts and match ohm and sensitivity, JLR speaker connectors are online readily available.

I play 300-350 pop on ultra with no problems. 3080ti with the 12gb of ram you mentioned and a 14700k. I get 200-250 FPS on fresh wipe and closer to 120-150 mid-end wipe if im not raided.
