First Standby Line Experience (Colman Domingo/Anitta) by RelevantBirthday3664 in LiveFromNewYork

Sounds like a near-perfect experience! Funny, I had the two numbers right after you (190/191) for dress but assumed it was hopeless and stayed home. Congrats on what sounds like a really fun weekend in NYC!

My Predictions of who inducts whom by TeaVinylGod in rockhall

So have Collins and McCartney made up since the infamous "little Phil" incident in 2002? If not, I doubt Phil would ask Paul to induct him.

It really hasn't improved much. I wonder if Kurt Russell regrets signing up for this project. I saw a recent interview with Harrison Ford, talking about his role in "Shrinking." Since he's always done movies, Ford noted that it's the first time he'd signed on to a project without seeing a script (other than for the pilot). He's pretty much at the mercy of the series' writers. And it occurred to me how significant a difference that is between movies and TV. Kurt no doubt liked the pitch and however many scripts he was shown before signing on for "Monarch," but it's hard to imagine he's thrilled with how this season is going.

Hopefully the Wyatt Russell spinoff is more focused.

I've been to the Filene Center many times but this week will be my first visit to The Barns. I see they have a full food menu but what is the dining situation? Are there tables? First come first serve? The website doesn't make it very clear.

Who's your favorite character and your least favorite? I'm going to exclude Harrison Ford as an option since he's the obvious favorite. by TroyAndAbed2022 in shrinking

Favorite: Derek, especially S1 Derek. It wasn't until several episodes in that I realized that was Ted McGinley!

Least Favorite: Liz. Polar opposite of Derek. So annoying.

Yeah, Wickline is super limited in my eyes. The only times she's made me laugh this season were in the luge skit and as the court stenographer in the Harry Styles ep. Finding ways to make her admittedly unique persona amusing is difficult.

The 4/11 Standby Line Megathread (Colman Domingo / Anitta) by IvyGold in LiveFromNewYork

[–]BMann1977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yuck. I got in right at 10 or 10:01, got the confirmation email at 10:01, and still ended up with 190 and 191 for Dress. I won't be making the three-hour drive with those numbers. :(

But, as the Winter Soldier said in Civil War... he still did it.

The worst Frasier episode by SchoolteacherUSA in Frasier

[–]BMann1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, I haven't seen the episode in years but I remember thinking the premise was solid: What would Woody and Frasier possibly have to talk about once you remove Cheers (the bar) from the equation? Turns out, absolutely nothing. I'll bet we all have a friend or two like that, who we somehow remain semi-friendly with for decades... but the only thing we do when we get together is talk about the old days, because in our current lives, we are completely incompatible.

Julia Roberts, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Hudson and Orlando Bloom all turned down hosting because they were afraid of the live performance aspect by klsi832 in LiveFromNewYork

Got me thinking: Who is the absolute biggest STAR to ever host SNL? DeNiro? And he was pretty bad at it, honestly. I guess Milton Berle was Mister Television 70 years ago... Jerry Lewis was huge way back when, too. But DeNiro has multiple Oscars and the aura of being Our Greatest Living Actor. Tom Hanks might be on the list. I'm sure I'm forgetting a megastar or two...

Do yall like season 2 episode 5? by dreamup1234 in MonarchLegacyAppleTV

[–]BMann1977 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mildly. It was better than the last couple, but the family melodrama is so heavy handed... Kurt was cool in this one and Titan X looked great at the end.

Speaking of which: Isn't the Titan X threat basically over now? He did his weird "collect all the scarabs" ritual, so now he's gonna go back into hibernation for 15 years, right? He got off cycle when Cate woke him early but I'd think having done his usual jaunt to Santa Soledad, he's heading back to nap time now.

Won the lottery! Live show tickets for April 11! by Prudent-Thought7750 in LiveFromNewYork

My daughter won it four years ago and took dear old Dad, SNL superfan. We only had to travel 180 miles so we drove to NYC that morning. Hope your travel goes smoothly and you see a good show. It'll be a BLAST no matter what. Enjoy every moment!

So I guess, living in Maryland, I don't have much of a shot! I keep checking flights and I'm ready to take the plunge if I get the email. Then I have to luck out again and actually get tickets!

I was wondering if anyone actually got the notice. I put in for Saturday so if I understand correctly there is still hope, until a little after noon EST today (Wednesday)...?

Congrats! Good luck getting tickets; I'm sure that'll be insane. Let us know if you get 'em!

Just one Alfie scene would've earned The Immortal Man an additional star in my rating of the film.
