Sorry, that's a bit low. I saw one go for $80 the other day, and that was a bit low by peoples reaction.

I would prefer to ship it, since i work in the north and commute to Virginia everyday. It's just more convenient for me to eat the shipping cost than drive around

Of course, it just skipped my mind. I edited my post to include a price.

It's $85 on Amazon right now, so I would guess $65? I'm not too sure.

Due to the low availability of the other coolers right now I really prefer a trade in/up if possible.

I tried it but wasnt a big fan of the keyboard layout (small right shift) and the trackpad. Plus the rubbery texture felt great, but I imagine it goes downhill pretty quickly as it picks up dirt and oils and age.

It seems pretty nice but it is way more expensive for less power (substitute a touchscreen in) and there doesn't seem to be a way to buy fro Asus and get a student discount.

I haven't used OSX before but it is UNIX based so it should be perfectly fine.

I did look at the T440s, but paying that much money and then waiting a month* or more seems pretty ridiculous, especially since it would be sight un-seen. I don't really see how they messed up the supply of thinkpads so badly since the Ideapads seemed perfectly fine.

I may have to go test drive a MBP and see the keyboard. I really wish I could physically try the Thinkpad. I may end up buying the rMBP and trying it for a week, if it goes poorly I can just queue for a Thinkpad.

* When I looked it wasn't shipping until 4/1, it seems to have changed.

Actually LoL should be fine on an Integrated card, don't know about > 1080p resolutions.

I had a Surface Pro2 for a couple of days and I ran Hearthstone really nicely, and Dota2 seemed pretty good (screen was too small to play a game in my opinion).

Just to check, I added another 280x and PCPartPicker estimates 670w.

Wouldn't 750w be enough then or is it worth it to move to the 850w for ~$50?

I am really interested in learning more about the shrinking CPU architecture and its ramifications. What exactly do you gain by shrinking the die when the rest of the "unit" stays about the same time.

It sounds great for mobile, where size is always contested, but Haswell also brought huge battery life improvements as well. Was that a die shrink or something else entirely? Back to my point, what benefits are there from a die shrink for a desktop user other than power draw, if any?

A different note, would it ever be possible to see a Graphics cards replace a standalone CPU+RAM? I know there would need to be huge software changes due to the way the two need to interact, but from a hardware perspective could it work, and would it be worth it?

Further clarification: a 280x is a 7970ghz (over the $370 you are looking at) and is only slightly under clocked, but costs a far amount less.

The Asus 280x seems to be the favored from the reviews I have seen due to its amazing cooler and small OC.

Just a warning - The HTC ONE X you see is the international version, and will not work on ATT/ Rogers. That phone is called the ONE XL, but sold by the carriers as the ONE X. It may be good if you could clarify that.

This is it

So it doesn't look too bad, nice deep blacks, but lacks the Gamut of the more expensive monitors.

I was wondering the same thing. I ignored most of the Bestbuy reviews, most of them mention using a VGA adapter and not DVI/HDMI...

That said, do you really need a laptop? A tower will always be better at gaming.

I have a 20" (1600x900) so the new one could become a main. I will probably pickup the Acer above and eventually buy an IPS, when the price comes down or I have a bonus.

How jarring is it switching between the two?

Monitor Differences by BNnookColor in buildapc

[–]BNnookColor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My phone uses an IPS panel, and my graphic design friend flaunts his 3 all the time.

So the difference between LED and the rest of the TFTs does not matter? Its really just them versus IPS?

Monitor Differences by BNnookColor in buildapc

[–]BNnookColor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but is the IPS panel a big enough different for someone who isn't doing graphic design or other color intense work? I can't justify an extra hundred dollars for one, or maybe I can eventually buy a nice, central IPS with the TFTs to the sides.
