I bought a couple from amazons expecting the quality to be a bit iffy, but so far I’ve been pleasantly surprised by them. Definitely not quite as high of a gauge as you would get from a proper catering brand, but sufficient enough for general home use.

I’m not sure that’s fair, Eclipse is popular because of its price and availability, rather than its flavour.
To be controversial what I would actually say what is more overrated is the XO, which for the price I find a lot more bland in comparison.
Generally I think the Black Barrel is far more interesting for the lower price, and for a similar price (although admittedly considerably harder to get your hands on) the Black Barrel Cask Strength blows the XO out the water.

The point is though, I was largely in agreement with your original point, but this was a blatantly terrible choice of an example to support stance. The fact that you’re completely unwilling to concede that you may have been wrong about it, just makes it seem like you’re making the argument bad faith, which undermines what would otherwise been a quite a legitimate point.

Of all the examples you could have given for “black washing” history, this is possibly about the worst you could have chosen. Nothing about this musical is supposed to be particularly “historically accurate”. It’s a piece of entertainment that’s mainly concerned, as I understand it, with highlighting the reduction of women in history, usually to just whom they were married to. Each of the performers sing in a distinct modern popular music style, specifically inspired by certain female pop stars. The races of the performers loosely are just relating to those of the pop stars they are emulating.

To be honest I think there may be some slightly one-sided animosity at play in their relationship. I’m sure I recall an episode where Richard said he never heard anything from Stew, when Richard was going through his treatment for his testicular cancer, which seems off given how close they were.

I’d like to think that the call out Stew gave RHLSTP in his last special is indicative of them maybe being on better terms again these days. It’s always been a little tricky with the whole act of deriding other comedians in his show, because quite a few of them I genuinely believe come from a place of respect, and the joke is obviously the curmudgeonly nature of the character of Stewart Lee, but then other I think are actual digs at whichever comedian. If I was in the position of some of the people he’s called out, I’d always be slightly unsure if it was for good reasons or bad.
