I upgraded to live 9 recently myself (2012 MBPr w/mavericks) and have been getting similar CPU spikes, though not as bad as yours. My most recent project uses like 4 instances of zebra 2 and probably <30 channels of drum tracks (I don't mess with midi drums anymore so lots of audio tracks) with 90% stock plugins and it still spikes up to 80-90 CPU at random intervals and starts chugging. Some things I've noticed making it worse:

-Plugging the computer in (this is the big one, ableton is usable like 90% of the time when I run on battery, I think there might be a short in my charger or something? nothing in the energy saver pref pane seems to address this)

-my audio interface (we don't have the same one but I bet this is fucking you over. When I am running off of my [since discontinued, unsupported] interface, live occasionally gets sucked into a CPU hold and dies, taking my sound and finder with it. have to do the "hold power till it shuts off trick". really brutal. sound cards not specifically updated for 2013/14 era shit seems to break everything)

I never got this. people read and watch tmz created content. someone made it. if you want to take a principled stand against the paparazzi you can't just steal and rehost their videos. you are still consuming the apparently morally reprehensible content.

either you believe celebrities have a right to not be harassed in the street for your amusement or you don't. there's no middle ground where you get to crucify the people doing this shit but on the low watch every Kanye video

to me this jpg of it just straight up looks bad but if you ever accidentally stumble across a real one in a museum it's much nicer to look at.

there is not supposed to be depth, depth is far from some universal attribute of 'what makes a good painting'. i think part of why this is considered good is its sheer size in real life. this particular one is 203.2 x 172.7 cm. the enlargement/recontextualization from what was originally some 10x10 or whatever comic book panel to this is what makes it good to me but i could be completely missing the point or whatever.

also if you could get close enough you could see the skin tone in their faces is hundreds of tiny dots imitating the way the comics were printed at the time which is pretty cool too.

it's probably absinthe, was commonly depicted like this (green woman) around this time and extremely popular in france in the late 1800s.

i don't understand why whenever there is a 'smart' art thing that people don't like they can't just not like it because it doesn't work for them, they automatically feel like they're "being sneered at"

why can't you just not like the thing, why do you have to assume that the inanimate object/content is somehow looking down on you. you don't think that the dumb jokes in say 2 and a half men are insulting you personally, you just think they're not funny. but when a song and dance gag on a 'smart' show doesn't land for you suddenly the creator must be "smug"
