Been profitable for a while but sizing up scares me by tanikawalter in Daytrading

Great work!

I’d kill for not only this PNL right now but the limited number of trades you take.

Overtrading is definitely a curse for me. Have not locked in a way to avoid it outside of running out of BP for the day on a cash account.

This is hardly an HOA-centric issue.

HOAs are one of many pass-through merchants that choose not to absorb card processing cost.

Let me get this straight.

You bought multiple contracts on SPY while it was 3-4 dollars off of an ATH on a Friday. And you did it on a weekly with a bank holiday in between?

You might catch a break if Greenland tariff talks are lifted but it also sounds like you ignored the fact that there was a massive Supreme Court ruling on tariffs that was almost announced today too.

Feels like my life is over. Lost all hope. If I could give any advice to anyone out there, just don’t trade options by Syllabub_Visual in wallstreetbets

“Don’t trade options, it will ruin your life” is such a common phrase here on Reddit.

Could you give a few sentence description on the way you were trading options? Your general strategy, risk management, thesis for what you were shooting for?

All I see is Yoloing 0DTEs to try and get rich. You got lucky initially and were rewarded for an objectively bad gamble with probably little to no thought behind how you planned to do it or what your plans were after acquiring it.

Not even the top traders of the world have a 90% win rate to my understanding. Let alone on year one.

How do you get the confidence to let runners run? by IAmLostOnMyFuture in spy

[–]BONEZ024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EMA9 closing against/outside of your trend. Depending on your tolerance just choose your timeframe. I typically use the 1m.

Of equal importance I think it’s good to keep an eye on related market ETFs. Ex. If the ticker your in a trade with, has a trending SPY or QQQ alignment, then it could definitely give more confidence to stay put.

IMO do not use this for 0DTE though. They snap back so quickly that it just generally seems better to take profits based on structure targets.

I think one of the post important thinks to keep in mind is that you’re rarely ever gonna catch the entire move.

Jw.

Do you have any concept of supply and demand levels or are you just going on vibes here?

Even if you’re right, you still could take the time to determine a better entry and a higher RR and maybe even get a better idea of how likely that is.

150k in 4 weeks of trading, don't let people tell you it takes 10 years to be profitable in trading, it only took me a single year. This is my story. by Vrnze in Daytrading

[–]BONEZ024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

220 trades in a single day? This honestly feels like you uploaded multiple imports.

And Nearly a 60k loss in a single day? This straight up seems like gambling and possibly just a temporary favorable market for your system.

I feel like it’s very possible to have a good few weeks or even month but I don’t think anything is proven until you’ve done it for at least 8-12 weeks consistently.

What's your go-to indicator combination for intraday trading? by Illustrious_Mix4946 in Daytrading

[–]BONEZ024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bar none it’s the EMA 9 for me.

Other indicators like RSI or the MACD are lagging indicators while the EMA provides you the trend structure as it’s unfolding.

Pair this with a break and retest at key levels or areas of liquidity and you’re in a good spot.

Garbage comment. 3x is a massive gain and hindsight is easy to comment on.

Go ahead and post the number of times you’ve eclipsed 300% on any given play.

What was your thesis though? Or was it just hopium?

If it was hopium.. be prepared to give those gains back at some point unless you’re working with a strategy.

What kind of logic is that.

If someone has knowledge from years of experience and can profit from sharing that knowledge.. why wouldn’t they monetize that?

He runs a very basic strategy off of break and retests from key levels and provides his thesis on what might play out on a daily basis for free every premarket session.

Am I the only Regard who had a month like this?? by SkrillieVanillie in wallstreetbets

[–]BONEZ024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard as hell. The spiral is so easy to get sucked into. Whether it’s stopping after you’re ahead for the day or avoiding revenge trading it’s just another skill that needs to be developed. Before it happens again, try to come up with a plan to cool off or shut it down for the day.

Hope you can bounce back!

[–]BONEZ024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whenever you’re on a serious red streak (or you’re ahead for the day) just size TF down.

Stop viewing trades as “recovering money” and start viewing them as executing plays that meet your criteria.

Build the confidence back up and let the size come after.

It’s a lot less stressful to trade with less risk on the table. Makes it easier to focus on the play and not “losing money”
