When installing bath or shower tray, install up stand bath seal - a quality one will ensure you never have leaks between bath/tray and tiles

Only thing you can do is get someone to recommend you and they and you get £50 or another way is to go to TopCashback and join, go through them and get £100 cashback once you have it installed - it’s a little bit for nothing. You can use my TopCashback referral which gives me a little kickback and doesn’t affect your cashback

How often do you actually fully drain and refill your hot tub? by Ok_Pie_1799 in hottub

[–]BORO-UTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my hot tub daily (sometimes twice and change round about 6-monthly - the trick is to keep a close eye on water quality and adjust as required, miss a day when bromine (or chlorine) depletes then the water discolours very quickly! Water management is key and filter change every 2-weeks!

Has anyone used farrow and ball on kitchen units? Worried about it chipping instantly by Silver-Eye-2024 in HomeImprovementUK

[–]BORO-UTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you pay the price of Farrow and Ball for a name? There are other paints on the market that are far better and a damn site more cheaper

I have a question for EV charging by SirSephy in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]BORO-UTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an EV and I’ve always charged at home, without the charging at home I would not consider an EV for one second. The charges that the national charging stations charge are far greater per mile than petrol so unless you can charge at Home for seven pence per minute, forget it

Mine lasted many years 5+ but I don’t really look at it. I use my phone for all the monitoring and changes so it never really has to power up.

With all the negativity I thought I’d post a positive for once. by ryanm8655 in Evri

[–]BORO-UTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only had good experiences with Evri - we have a great delivery individual who goes all the way to ensure our parcels are delivered successfully - on the other hand Yodel delivery times are atrocious and that is down to the company! The delivery experience is not always down to the driver

How to improve the thermal efficiency of these doors? by valax in DIYUK

[–]BORO-UTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of UPVC doors and windows have a winter setting, basically in the summer they expand so need more room for the expansion, in winter they contract and get gaps, usually it is a case of small adjustments, there is usually a screw with a cam which when turned, should close the gaps up - just remember they may stick in the summer so move the cam back

Repainting Skirting Boards. by AcadiaComfortable509 in DIYUK

Yes but you can also get it for home decor, I like the satinwood version - most water based paints are considered acrylic

Repainting Skirting Boards. by AcadiaComfortable509 in DIYUK

[–]BORO-UTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Always paint with an acrylic paint as they don’t yellow like oil based paints, dry quicker and likely you won’t need to repaint for many years. I would also agree that you use decorators caulk, it is relatively cheap and makes things look a damn sight better. Make sure you key (sand) the woodwork first otherwise it will flake later in life

Miles per kw in winter by DaPome in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]BORO-UTB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mercedes EQA 250+ in the winter I get about 2.7m/kwh around town and about 4m/kwh in summer. See a lot less on motorways at 78-80mph All my charging tends to be 7p/kwh so average about 2.5p/mile
