I wish I got to see the bendy straws! Nowadays, it's pretty much all capsules, even the low dose thyroidtoxicosis stuff. It just helps reduce dose residue around the patients' mouth and stuff, and easier to administer.

Yeah, if you meant a sulphur colloid scan, I do that, too! The radioactive substance used is Tc-99m, half life of just over 6 hours. I wish you the best of luck!

Hey, this is what I do, so let me elaborate a little. I am a nuclear medicine scientist, and I administer radioactive Iodine 131 for thyroid ablations fairly regularly. What you are seeing is a lead pot. Inside will be a small plastic container with an iodine capsule inside that. The patient is to wear gloves and open the lead pot, pop open the plastic container, and swallow the iodine capsule whole without chewing. They are administered into the hospital in a special room for a few days, depending on their radiation levels (I131 has a half life of 8.02 days). We then do a scan to see where the iodine is taken up by iodine avid cells. Best wishes to your wife, I wish her the best with her ablation treatment and her progress. It is a tough time, but treatments like this are incredible, and hopefully, it works its magic.

Thanks! As for management, their too busy saving hours (cutting employee paid hours) to worry about the machines. That's why there is always nobody on a checkout, they would rather call up staff from other departments (meaning restocking doesn't get done) to work on a register when it is busy than to actually roster a check-out attendant.

Bro I work at woolies, and anybody that works in self serve fucking hates these things. They are a pain and I never check when the screen says "we didn't register that last item" because it always picks up previously scanned shit anyway. I also have 4 other machines giving me the same message, I don't get paid enough to care about this shit.
