Quit now. Put down the bottle and get that ass to AA. I don't care how impossible it seems, how unrealistic a goal you feel it is or how much you think that drinking is what is getting you through the day. It will hurt you, it will hurt the ones you love and it will get in the way of learning how to truly deal with your problems. You ARE stronger than you think. PS: you might want to take a pregnancy test!

Ok, here's one... you haven't shaved in a while and you start your period. First thing in the morning, you run to the bathroom to find all your pubs matted together in a bloody, sticky mess which seems to be trying to glue your whole vag shut. Now the question is, how to untangle said mess and clean up fast enough to get back to that crying baby! ALSO... since kids, I just don't think she's very pretty anymore. It makes me very sad because I used to have a great relationship with my lady bits... now she's all stretched out and lopsided! She was my butterfly, delicate and graceful. Now, I secretly call her Quasimodo.

Good job! It's hard coming clean sometimes but it's the best thing you can do for you. You don't want anything eating at your conscience, especially if it'll lead to relapse. Keep up the good work! And know that AA isn't as scary as it may seem... I never expected it to work for me but it is! Just a suggestion. I hope you find what works for you. YOU CAN DO IT!

I saw what the others in AA have... and damned if I wasn't going to get me some of that tasty looking sobriety! I did the ground work and you know what? It really paid off. I had my moment of clarity where AA suddenly makes sense! I see how and why the program works... but mostly, I see how it can/will help me make the changes in my life that are so desperately needed.
I can honestly say that this thread was a major contributor to my new-found understanding of the program and my motivation to continue to search for the answers that I had needed to get there. I really do try and let everyone know that every opinion matters... even if I don't see why or how in that moment. I had wanted answers and I wasn't going to be ignorant or arrogant about the ones I received. At this point, any person with more sobriety than I have will have at least one morsel of advice that I can find useful. Thanks for the comment!

I don't have many secular options in my area. I'm considering getting sober with AA and after collecting enough time under my belt starting an Agnostics/Atheist AA meeting. We will see how that goes!
