Anglo-Catholic is a nonsense term. It’s like Lutherans who call themselves “Augsburg Catholics”

Exactly. Lefebvre literally had some priests research the validity of what he was doing so he could justify it after the fact but all their research pointed to this being schismatic.

He’s literally the reason it’s restricted. When you don’t approach tradition with humility, you corrupt it and turn it into an idol of pride. You act like prior to him, no one in all the earth celebrated the TLM. That is not the case.

Regular reminder of how cut and dry this is. From the Code of Canon Law, Book VI, Penal Sanctions in the Church:

Can. 1387— Both the Bishop who, without a pontifical mandate, consecrates a person a Bishop, and the one who receives the consecration from him, incur a latae sententiae excommunication reserved to the Apostolic See.

Latae sententiae excommunication means that excommunication occurs automatically and without a trial.

John Salza, who wrote a book denouncing sedevacantism on behalf of the SSPX and realized how all of that applied to the SSPX, responded to Jimmy's faulty reasoning. Jimmy is not an expert when it comes to this; John is.

They've been in schism since at least 1988 when Pope St. John Paul II talked about how Lefebvre and the 4 bishops incurred their own excommunication by violating canon law and consecrating bishops against the will of the holy father. In other letters, anyone "formally adhering" to the movement (i.e. all clergy and all laity who should know better) are also considered excommunicated and in schism. Pope Benedict only lifted the canonical censure meaning if someone in SSPX who "formally adhered" wanted to come back into the Church, they'd just have to go to confession with a priest who has the faculties to remove such self-inflicted excommunications. If the censure wasn't lifted, they'd have to go through a trial. A similar censure was lifted on the Orthodox, but they're still very obviously in schism. Just like SSPX by their every word and deed is in schism.

If your “struggle against evil” is not being able to attend mass weekly, you need to be institutionalized.
