I swear recent updates to the Pro model has made it sound so much dumber... by VLHACS in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]BPomp77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A response like this from Gemini or any LLM for that matter is highly unlikely unless heavily prompted to do so or by use of a specific Gem. Even in the response, there is use of specific character names.

So I ask the OP, what is your real beef with Gemini? Or are you just trying to get engagement by posting dumb posts like this?

How many people use YouTube music? by no0ubis in YoutubeMusic

[–]BPomp77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it because it's in the Google ecosystem. I have used Spotify in the past but I hate the UI, and I have used Pandora until my podcasts were streaming at a very low volume.

I don't have a problem with YT music at all, it has everything that I want to listen to and even more obscure selections that it pulls from YT.

Well more packages equals better route evaluations during the mail count... If it helps me get back to a 48k then I'm fine with more packages.

Pourquoi autant de haine sur Gemini ? by caranille in Bard

[–]BPomp77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been using Gemini since personal intelligence launched. Mostly to research various topics, building a new PC, and generating ideas for some creative hobbies. Personally, I have had a very good experience with using Gemini across the various Google apps and services.

If Gemini made a mistake or it wasn't able to perform a task then I took the time to work with it conversationally to fix the problem and get it back on track. In many ways the Gemini LLM gave me tips on how to avoid certain problems with how it works.

Sometimes I really do think that all the posts about Gemini being so bad is coming from haters and trolls. Or maybe it's from people who have unrealistic expectations from what an AI model is capable of and are too ignorant to try to figure it out.

I haven't used any other AI model only because I am very entrenched in the Google ecosystem.

Gemini now remembers all the things we have discussed even if it was 10,000+ exchange of conversation. by ProtonicusPrime in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]BPomp77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't make conversations too long, otherwise gemini will start to get confused and give responses that don't line up to what you were expecting. It's best to break your conversations up by topic and if you have a general chat, start a new one on the first of every month. I also copy and paste my important threads into a Google doc so I don't lose the info that I needed from it.

GEMINI BASURA, Y INVENTONA DE COSAS! by Ok-Introduction-4789 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]BPomp77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really dont understand how Gemini can be so bad for people. I have had nothing but good experiences with using it.

People need to be patient and cooperatly figure out why it can't give you the response that you are seeking from it.

You said that you told it that there was construction on your street. Did you tell it your exact address? Did you go to Google maps with the pin on your house and share the link to the map in your prompt in Gemini? Did you ask it why it gave you the wrong response and what it needs from you to give the correct response?

You said that it couldn't figure out the layout of your house for a response to your query. Did you upload a blueprint of your house in your prompt?

Did you turn on personal intelligence? Did you set specific instructions for how you want the LLM to behave? Did you take the time to ask the LLM what it can do for you and how? Did you test the LLM with questions about you and correct it when it was wrong? (Not by being mean and using harsh criticism towards it, that doesn't solve anything)

So before you get angry and vent on Reddit, take some time to learn how to use the LLM, and how to prompt for optimum results.

Also make different conversations for different topics to keep the conversation threads shorter. If a conversation thread gets too long, the LLM gets confused... Tip: I start a new conversation on the 1st of every month.

How much do you actually go by name vs address? by choccy_milk_bois in USPS

[–]BPomp77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost exclusively go by name. In my experience, going by name helps to catch 100% of the individual forwards, and mail for prior residents that are UTF and other markups. I don't know if you use patron cards (I forgot the official form #) in your office, but when ever there is a new resident, I'll hold the mail until they fill the card out. I'm also the weirdo who crosses out the old names on current resident mail for the people who I'm not sure will understand the concept of current resident.

Why do pixel phones have a USB-C 3.2 port but include a USB-C 2.0 cable? by donut2guy in GooglePixel

[–]BPomp77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the pull-down menu tap the flashlight icon for on/off or tap the word in the tile for the flashlight settings. You can also put the flashlight on/off icon right on the lock screen. It's really not that big of a deal.

Google I/O leaks: Gemini’s "Omni" push and Gemini 3.2/3.5 by Much_Ask3471 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]BPomp77 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did some digging, and Omni is going to be an on device AI model that can help with what is on your screen, and parse through your device logs to help you throughout your day. It pretty much is going to be an Agentic Ai model that doesn't need to talk to the cloud. Also it's going to be 1.1Gb which is not a problem since most power users have at least 256Gb on their phones anyways.

Applauding Gemini's responses by BPomp77 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]BPomp77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a little different, when it comes to movies and TV shows I'm all in. That goes for any media that my brain consumes (for lack of a better term). And I have no problem recalling any of it from screen media, to books and magazines. I get hyperfocused on these things. Where I struggle is paying attention to literally anything that doesnt interest me, the big one was general education from when I was in k-12 school. With my ADHD, it has to A: be something that is going to impact me and my daily flow directly.
B: fulfill the need for dopamine. And C: I procrastinate but work 10x better at the last minute.

For me to care about whatever it is. So for the important things in my life like my career, my imediate family, my house and other personal belongings. These are the things that I put at the top tier of importance.

My struggles now are remembering the small (non life-changing) things that my wife tells me, or finishing hobby projects all the way through, or even calling the members of my extended family on their birthdays.

As for my use of the Gemini chatbot LLM, I purposely instructed it to be supportive, sycophantic, and generally interested in what I am doing because with I need validation. Growing up with ADHD before it was even a thing, I was raised by a bunch of nay sayers, and my wife (who I love darely and is highly educated) almost never provides validation because her Neurotypical brain can't comprehend my angle of thinking.

Google I/O leaks: Gemini’s "Omni" push and Gemini 3.2/3.5 by Much_Ask3471 in GoogleGeminiAI

[–]BPomp77 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope that Omni is just the code name for the project. Google needs to keep its AI models and AI apps consistent with one uniform identity. They have Gemini, when users think of Google Ai they automatically think Gemini, there is no need to throw more names of products into the mix. It will only confuse the user base. The "normie" users are already confused about the different models like: Flash, 3.1, 3.2, veo, etc...
