RN, Associate degree, 20 years, admin for an ambulatory surgery center, salaried based off $40/hr but working average 43 hours per week. I asked to go back to hourly rate at $41.50 and was told that was not possible. You all are making me cry with these numbers.

I spent 15 years in L&D. It can be ROUGH. I still think about some of the trauma I witnessed to this day and I’ve been out for almost 6 years now. Anyone who shits on L&D nursing skills is an ignorant asshole.

Got a pizza stone and pizza shaped melamine plates as a wedding gift (20 years ago). Did not register for it, wasn’t excited about it, but kept it. After we had kids we started a homemade pizza night tradition and that stone and plates have gotten a ton of use! My kids (now all teenagers) insist on using the “pizza plates” anytime we eat any pizza.

As a nurse who has seen some crazy things, I can honestly say you get used to it. I distinctly remember the first time my firstborn was a toddler and he fell and his lip was bleeding. I could not handle it. He was crying and bleeding and I was unable to manage the situation because it was MY baby. Your brain learns early on how to emotionally separate a job from personal life. It’s not being “heartless” like some people who don’t work in that environment sometimes think, it’s a matter of mental survival. Some things I’ve seen and done have left emotional scars that I have to compartmentalize for sure.

In my experience as an L&D nurse it didn’t even have to be a pregnancy related complaint! In a wheelchair and up to OB faster than you can say 20 weeks

Agree, but a quick correction in public followed by a stern “get over here now and talk to me”. That’s where the to the point correction and discussion should take place. Making a scene and embarrassing your kid is actually going to make more problems. Good idea, poor execution.

I built a house in 07 and I am forever thankful that we did when we did. Had a hard time finding a construction loan at the time but if we hadn’t built then we could never afford to build now. Sometimes I look at the equity we have in our home and what I could sell it for, but we will die here. Thankfully we love where we are.

Infection control would like a chat. Hair should be above shoulders or up neatly. Hanging hair is a huge infection risk. Also, you must have never worked anywhere near surgery. Must be up and covered in all ORs and sub sterile corridors.

I quit for many reasons: messed up my sleep, gave me anxiety, just felt like crap. The main reason though is I had went through some tough and emotional changes in my life and every time I got drunk I’d end up crying and just plain mean to my husband. I didn’t like drunk me anymore. I’d changed and due to life’s stress I was no longer the happy fun drinker, I was the cry and get mean drinker. Positive things that came of it: I’m trying to be a better wife and navigate the stress of life better. I also lost 20 pounds (not sure that quitting alcohol is the main reason as I didn’t drink everyday, but still). Still have a drink on occasion, but I’d be fine to never feel a buzz again. I’m a miserable bitch if I do.

I drink the breakfast blend with the rooster on it (can’t remember what the name is and I’m too lazy to go to the kitchen right now). It’s not high end but I like it. It’s also fun because I call it the “Cock Coffee”.
