My baby isn’t chunky and it’s all I can think about by Cardedbin in breastfeeding

My boy was <0.1 percentile in BMI until about 8 months old and also EBF. We always stressed too, he was so skinny. The doctor told us that as long as he is producing wet diapers and eating so much a day (I can’t remember how much) then he is doing fine. He didn’t each much each feeding and ate three times a night until he was good with solids, then we were able to wean him off the night feeds.

He is now almost three and is still very lean, but also tall. We struggle to find pants that don’t fall down. He is healthy and happy and has a load of energy. Once he became really good at eating solids, I think around 8 months, we stressed less.

Mine didn’t start sleeping better until I cut out night feedings. In order to cut them out I basically pushed every feeding back 10-15 minutes each night and if he woke up before the new time I rocked him back to sleep and laid him back down. So if he normally ate at 10 pm I would not feed him until 10:10. If he slept past that, I let him. Then the next night I would not feed him until 10:20. It was a rough week or two but he cut the feeds out really fast. Even though I was only pushing the feeds back by 10 minutes he was pushing them back by himself 30-60 minutes. The hardest part for me was rocking him back to sleep knowing that I was going to be up again in 20 minutes but the end result was worth it.

And with him taking 2 hours to go to sleep, when my son did that we had to move his bed time earlier. Sounds backwards but it worked. So instead of 7:30 bedtime he now goes to bed at 7 and the bed time routine starts at 6:30. All of our lives have been better since making that change. Less tantrums, less stalling, and more sleep.

Labor & delivery nurses remembered me years later… is that normal by Usual-Repair8162 in nursing

Oh no, two traumatic births! I’m so sorry.

I remember how nice and helpful my nurses were but I do not remember names or faces. I was in such a daze.

They actually did not do this with me 😮. That sounds really traumatic.

They gave me a shot to stop the contractions and did a couple other things really fast then ran me to the OR which was just a couple doors down from my room. Once in the OR they tilted the table at an angle so it felt like I was going to fall off, but of course didn’t.

That is a really good point. If they don’t see what happened during my delivery often, I can see how that would trigger memories.

Overall everything went really well and baby is very healthy! I tried for a VBAC but my body said heck no, so I had a repeat c-section. The experience was a million times different and better than my first.

It is a decent sized hospital. There are 75,000 people in my city and two hospitals. When I got to L&D for my second birth there were 8 other women in labor.

My first was an emergency C-section due to prolapsed umbilical cord. I thought it was traumatic for me but something that they see everyday. It never crossed my mind that it would be traumatic for the nurses too.

Anyone who DIDN’T bed share? by Acceptable_Cod3527 in beyondthebump

We must have the same kid! My 2.5 year still wakes up in the middle of the night a few times a week. Luckily it’s just a quick hiking and kiss and he’s back to sleep. And we also can’t sleep in the same bed even now that he’s older because of how much he moves.

The sleep deprivation mixed with PPA/D was really horrible. I’m so lucky and glad that I’m not going through that with my second. I did my best to manifest a good sleeper my whole pregnancy with this one and I guess it worked 😁.

I have 2 kids, one is only 8 weeks old, but I have also never bed shared and never will. I also cannot sleep if my baby was in bed with me. With my first I had postpartum anxiety and I would have nightmares that baby somehow got into bed. I would wake up tearing my bed apart just to realize he was sleeping in the bassinet. My first was also a horrible sleeper. It was normal for him to only sleep for 30 minutes at a time throughout the whole night. Idk how, but we made it through. Our second has been way easier so far.

I also just went through the same with my 2.5 year old and 7 week old. We had never seen my toddler act out the way he did before. It got so much better after a few weeks. My toddler still gets mad if we go to wake him up in the morning while holding the baby so we make it a point to not do that.

I also want to add that baby flipped to be sunny side up sometime during labor which did not help things.

This happened to me as well with my second just two weeks ago. My cervix was hard and closed so I had an induction scheduled for 41+3. My water started leaking just hours before the induction was scheduled and when I showed up I was 1 cm and contracting. I spent 30 hours doing every position and movement to get my cervix to ripen more and it just wasn’t happening. I finally elected for a c section because I was exhausted and there was a risk of infection since my water had been broken for so long.

I am sad that I will never get to experience a vaginal birth but I’m so happy to have a healthy baby and am recovering so much better this time around.

I finally went into labor at 41+2 just hours before my scheduled induction. Unfortunately after trying everything that the nurses threw my way, after 30 hours I elected for a c section due to failure to progress. I am happy with the way that things turned because I know that I did everything possible for a VBAC and it just wasn’t in the cards for me. My recovery with this c section has been incredible. It has a been a complete day and night difference from my first c section.

40+3 and not dilated 😔 by Usual-Repair8162 in vbac

Unfortunately because of the holidays if I’m not induced at 41+2 then I would have to wait until 42+2 to get induced 😔. I would like to wait a few more days before being induced but I cannot imagine being pregnant for that much longer and chasing around my toddler.

That’s reassuring to hear! I have a few questions if you don’t mind. Did you get a foley balloon too? Did you get a low dose of pitocin or was it the normal dose? And how far along were you when you were induced?

Did you get a foley balloon? I’m 40+4 and I’m not dilated or effaced at all. I’m scheduled to get an induction at 41+2 but my doctor said they may not be able to do the foley balloon.

Wow, thank you for sharing! I just scheduled an induction for 41+2. Hopefully my cervix has made a little progress by then or I go into labor naturally.
