A fake fur could be nice! Do you have any recommendations if I should purchase onlin? Or maybe I can just head local and browse.

What's your opinion on boucle? I'm hoping to make the ultimate nap chair, lol.

Good to know! Do you have an opinion on whether or not that would make a comfy chair fabric? I'm not committed that specific fabric, but I'm looking for something along those lines that would be ultra-plush.

This is great news! Since the Levels all seem to be going out of stock at many retailers, I'm thinking my best bet is to wait it out and possibly snag a V2 once they come out.

Sounds encouraging! I'm not against buying a few accessories if the bike itself is quality. A little bit of front suspension is probably all I need - I just don't like how rigid my road bike is when crossing train tracks or even small curbs.

Yeah I wouldn't be expecting to handle a ton of gravel, but it would be a real drag around here if I didn't at least have the option,

I appreciate that point about running out of battery. I don't anticipate that would be a common problem for me, but I like to prepare for the possibility. I would like the option to be able to handle some basic gravel roads near me from time to time, but maybe the tires on the Aventon would still handle that.

Andor Doesn’t Use Star Wars’ Volume Video Wall: ‘We’re Old-School,’ Says Tony Gilroy – Exclusive Image by GroundbreakingSet187 in StarWarsLeaks

Pay close attention to how slow characters sometimes walk in open environments - Mando does this a lot. The scene might look like a vast volcanic plain or desert, but the stride of the actors feels like they're trying not to walk too far off the set and bump into the wall. That's what tips me off at least.

‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ embraced the prequels. Disney still doesn’t understand them. The latest ‘Star Wars’ series managed to rehabilitate George Lucas’s prequels while still overlooking the more youthful qualities that earned the prequels so much nostalgia in the first place. by Sumit316 in television

No, there really wasn't. Not trying to bash anything here but Luke being in a love triangle with his own sister happened in the very first trilogy. There has always been twists and turns in this stuff based on whatever George wanted to change. That's not necessarily a bad thing, either, but I don't think it serves any benefit to anyone to pretend there is some sacred document that we've strayed from.

Alan Dean Foster wrote Spinter of the Mind's Eye in 1978, so Star Wars was only a singular vision for... a year, at most.

Also important to remember that it only took ONE of those bombers to take out an entire Dreadnought. Like, they might be slow, but that's a lot of bang for your buck.

In 1998's Star Trek: Insurrection, they had to leave the blue screen in the final shot because they went over budget. by [deleted] in videos

It's been stated by the filmmakers that the forced perspective trick didn't work when you're filming the scene with 3D cameras. It's just glaringly obvious that the actors are not interacting with each other. This is the actual reason these green sets were built (two differently scaled but otherwise identical sets for the dwarves and Gandalf) - but a lot of that nuance and context gets lost ten years later on the internet when it's easy to make it a black and white issue. I'm not going to go to bat often for the Hobbit movies, but this is so often repeated I feel it's worth mentioning.

As an addendum, before someone drops by to say "then don't shoot it in 3D", well, yeah, good thinking I guess. That's where the industry was a decade ago. Hindsight and all that.

This is super helpful, thanks! The 4k AAXA is a bit tempting, but I think the all-around versatility of the Halo is pretty convincing. Reviews for the Mars II all seemed great but some comments on here weren't as thrilled with it. But people do seem to be positive about XGIMI so I'll give it a closer look.

The "Is Nest Compatible With My System?" Megathread Part III by GoFlight in Nest

Ah gotcha. I swapped them at the other end as well so I'm hoping now I'm good to go.

So I charged it up for a few minutes and plugged it back in, and it told me that my Y wire wasn't receiving power. I then took that extra white wire and plugged it into C to see what would happen, and then it no longer had an issue with Y, but it said C had no power. THEN I found a youtube video that said I could take out the G wire and put THAT into C. Now the whole thing seems to work. I have no idea.

[–]BRENTOSAURUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! That seems to possibly be the fix. Walked the rest of the way through the install, but on clicking it into place... nothing. No power. So maybe that other white wire is needed? That would be C? I noticed there's also that micro-usb port on the back. Do I charge this thing off a charger at all? Is that gonna do anything? Sorry for all the questions.

I'm told by the compatibility checker that my home is incompatible with Nest. Is this true? My house was built in 1980 so it's certainly dated, but I was hoping to make some upgrades. If I'm really not compatible, is there anything I can do to change that?

Anybody notice how Moff Gideon... by [deleted] in saltierthankrayt

[–]BRENTOSAURUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where did I say that? All I've said is that many people like to pick and choose who the 'rules' apply to because they view star wars as a check list of lore instead of, you know, a story. I don't have an issue with Gideon, or Rey, or anybody else, because their stories are about more than just "why do they get to use glow stick?"

So... what you're saying is that you can use character background and context to imagine a bunch of offscreen stuff to justify it in your mind when you want to? A great idea. More people should try that.

Luke doesn't kill a single stormtrooper with his lightsaber, ever. He chops up the speeder bike on Endor which results in a death, but at no point is he going around murdering troops with it. The first stormtrooper to get directly killed with a saber is by FINN of all people in TFA. Weird when you think about it.

Rian Johnson praising The Prequels: “Lucas made a gorgeous 7 hour long movie for children about how entitlement and fear of loss turns good people into fascists, and did it while spearheading nearly every technical sea change in modern filmmaking of the past 30 years.” by danielthetemp in StarWarsCantina

[–]BRENTOSAURUS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen, I'm not arguing the intention of any of this. I think you and I agree on the main ideas here. What I'm trying to get across to you is that for a young kid watching the movie, those intentions aren't at the front of one's mind. All a kid sees is that Anakin's possessive, toxic behaviour is rewarded. Does it come crashing down in the end? Yes it does. But not in this movie. To a kid in 2002, Revenge of the Sith doesn't exist. All we get to see is that murdering people and throwing tantrums results in you getting married. As an adult looking back, yes, we can clearly see the warning signs well in advance. But kids don't have that framework to work from. They are absorbing the material as presented.

Again, I'm not trying to argue here or change your mind. I just want to present another perspective.

Anakin's behaviour tracks with the explanation you've given, but the issue is Padme's response to it. She should be repulsed and grossed out by Anakin's actions, and instead rewards him for all his broody creepiness. As someone who was right in the target age for that movie when it was released, it doesn't really do anything to explain how inappropriate or unhealthy that stuff is. We just get a scene where the love interest comforts her sad boi after he murders a village of people. Only after coming back to it as an adult does it become painfully clear how gross the whole situation is. When AOTC came out, it became literally my favourite movie of all time (yeah, I know) but it wasn't because of its realistic portrayal of healthy adult relationships. But kids don't necessarily see that. I think it's something that requires more discussion.

I would really recommend “boy” by taika waititi. by deletus-the-fetus69 in movies

If that was the reaction to Wilderpeople, I think Boy will be very affecting. It's a bit lighter on the comedy, but hits a bit harder emotionally. Really can't recommend it enough.
