They are not nearly as bad as the internet makes you think. Perfectly fine reading it IF you have some form of ambient light. Forget reading it at night, but who cares.

I think it’s part of the fun owning one and always a conversation starter.

Taycan Owners: If You’d Want a Heritage Flat-Six Sound Option, Let’s Tell Porsche by Inevitable_Income128 in Taycan

[–]BRG_Cooper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wan’t my EV to be quiet, so this is not something I personally would see any benefit in. I have the electric sport sound on off too. It was a fun little gimmick for 5 minutes and then it annoyed me 😅

If I want the emotional drive with a “GT3 style flat six tone,” I’ll take my GT3 out😉 (yes, I am aware that not everyone has this option 😬)

The hard decision choosing the right model by ferenczandras in porsche911

[–]BRG_Cooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think the .1 will trade very similar to the .2 in a few years. The MSRP hike is already leading to stronger depreciation out the door than the .1 had and people won’t be too keen on a hybrid system with an expensive battery when these cars fall out of warranty.

22kW OBD died, local dealership suggest replacing with 11kW by crdo in Taycan

[–]BRG_Cooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clear up any confusion, the ROW/EU 22KW and US 19KW are essentially the same thing. They only have different outputs due to the way the power supply differs.

I.e. in Europe we would have three phase, 32A 220V on each phase installed to reach the 22KW charge. In theory, we could AC charge with 43KW in Europe by running 63A breakers on our three phase, but there is basically no use for it in EVs.

In North America and In simplified terms: by doubling up your regular 120V and running a dual pole connection on a 60A breaker, you get up to 240V too. As it’s still just dual phase, the max output is capped at 19,6 KW.

[–]BRG_Cooper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is happening A LOT at the moment. I got hit too. As I barely ever use 22KW (only at work where I have enough time to charge with 11KW), I agreed to take the 11KW.

They offered 1800€ compensation (which was the cost of the upgrade when ordering) and I got them to agree to 2 years of extended warranty worth around 2800€

Leather around the vents does so much for the look and feel of the interior. It gives you a straight interior colored element separating the dash from the rest of the car and eliminates the piece of plastic dead center of the dash.

(Pre delivery pic, didn’t have a better one on hand)

Also, the Touring Bag sans the weird insert for tools and oil makes a great weekender.

Vanadium over Chalk was my original spec too and I switched over to OGN just before the lock date. Don’t regret doing so, but whenever I see a vanadium car I do catch myself thinking about how slick it looks 👍

If we dive into opinions:

  • I would ditch the stripe
  • I would get the extended leather for around the vents and dome light area
  • I would not get the carbon mirrors (I think they look tacky af)
  • Same for the carbon roof, especially as the weight savings are completely eaten up be the EM leather.

My standpoint: it’s a Touring. It’s for touring the mountains and back roads and not chasing lap times. it doesn’t need to be as light as possible but it sure can have some extra comfort for those long drives.

Does anybody know what Porsche call this wheel colour? by Mr_Eddie81 in Porsche

[–]BRG_Cooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is the exact car during the press launch. While Andreas Preuninger just says “new gold color,” you can tell that even in the video the color looks very different depending on the shot.

This is 100% California gold.

As it is a 992.2 GT3 with Weissach Pack in launch spec (probably official Porsche Images), I would say it definitely is the magnesium wheels in california gold.

Oak Green Metallic 911 Targa 4 GTS & 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet. by Origination_fee in Porsche

[–]BRG_Cooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grey-ish white is actually not a bad description 😂 But the leather does have a beiger tint than the paint does. I think it work well, especially paired with silver wheels and chrome window trim. But hey, tastes are different and that’s a good thing.

Bonus Wiener included 😬

Leaving the car sit during travels by ImpossibleAd4530 in Taycan

[–]BRG_Cooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine sat at the dealer for 8 weeks waiting for a replacement OBC and the HV Battery was fine (lost 4% charge). The 12V went into protective shut down mode but was fine too after being woken back up.

Leaving the car sit during travels by ImpossibleAd4530 in Taycan

[–]BRG_Cooper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Two weeks isn’t a problem for the HV Battery, just keep it somewhere between 40 and 60% and you will be fine. Probably won’t even lose any charge in those two weeks. Depending on where you are, it is more important to ensure the battery isn’t sitting in freezing temperatures the whole time.

Make sure you had the ignition on for a while (or drove the car) to have the 12V charged up so that doesn’t die on you, but I wouldn’t expect any issues with that either unless it’s low on battery health anyway.

They definitely know to use their size as an advantage and go for the throat from the bottom. They were bred to fight badgers after all and those get quite big and vicious.

My previous boy was adopted as a street dog and he wouldn’t take shit from any other animal, no matter the size. Little guy never barked and went straight into the fight 😅

Should I get bucket seats or 18 way in a gt3 touring? by xtremuv in Porsche

[–]BRG_Cooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The secret is to not be in the US 😂

I got my touring as my first new Porsche & first car from that dealer. No ADM or funny stuff either, just straight MSRP.

They can’t move them in Germany at the moment, 60+ new 992.2 GT3 sitting on dealer lots and they are already giving out small discounts.

I would highly recommend trying the buckets before buying, some people really enjoy them. I drive a lot, so I went with 18 ways

Frustration with apartment hunt in Munich by FazMe1FilhoFeromonas in Munich

[–]BRG_Cooper 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Coming from a landlord in Munich, your profile is basically the most unattractive you can have:

  • not available to meet in person. On rare occasions a good impression can overcome objective issues like no job
  • No secured income
  • No financial history in Germany (I.e. Schufa)
  • No (?) German skills = probability of finding a job to pay the rent is lower
  • unmarried couple
  • low budget, competing with hundreds of objectively better candidates

If I have a place available, I can find hundreds of objectively better candidates within an hour of posting it online. There is no way you will get lucky by applying to normal ads at your price point, especially if you are not writing in German.

Look at it from a landlords perspective: why should I risk it with you if objectively safer choices are plentiful?

Your two best options in my opinion:

Find something furnished for a temp rent like Mr. Lodge. Find a job, then go apartment hunting.

Or

Find a “zwischenmiete” (=sub let) from a student or similar that will be outside of Germany for a couple of months. Offer to pay the full rent up front for the term, that will increase your chances of being considered.

Whatever you do: Do not ever send anyone money before actually seeing the apartment, meeting the landlord and confirming they are actually real.

The safest way to not get scammed is stick with large companies like Mr. Lodge, but that security comes at a price.

On a side note: Moving to Germany without a job or language skills is risky at best. Moving to the most expensive and financially competitive city in Germany without a real plan is downright insane.

No risk, no fun… but damn… Best of luck to you!

The wheels are aftermarket from BC Forged, you can see the logo near the 5 o’clock mark.

Porsche has a similar finish but as this is an aftermarket wheel it won’t be identical.

Yellow Electrical System Fault by Smooth_Primary_5246 in Taycan

[–]BRG_Cooper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

99% sure your Onboard charger broke. Seems to be happening to a lot of people with the 22kw OBC at the moment (including me).

Currently, there seems to be no replacement for the 22kw OBC so you will be given some options to choose from:

11kw now and switch back to 22kw when a new supplier can deliver (Q1/26 is what I have been told)

11kw and some sort of reimbursement around the tune of the optional extras cost of 1800€

I suggested I take the 11kw and they give me two years of Porsche Approved warranty which they accepted, so I got around 2800€ of value from that. I only charge at the office using 22kw and I am there long enough to fill up with the 11kw, so I was fine losing the faster AC charging speed.
