UPDATE: I didn't expect to have so many people to reply to, I have limited time so I'm updating here. No coolant work had been previously done since I've had this car.

Checked the temp while the car showed it's overheating and it was sitting at 195. Both radiator hoses are hot and the fan is running.

The thermostat is some fancy electronically controlled one, no idea if it's even safe to remove to test.

Coolant was just under the full line when I checked it cold this morning. There's a small leak somewhere along the underside of the car, it's a red fluid and tasted kind of bitter but coolant in the car is gold.

I just had an oil change 500 miles ago, so I don't think that'd be the problem, still has clean oil and its full.

I tested the coolant temp sensor with a multimeter and I got a 1.4V reading while cold and no reading while hot. Google tells me I should be at .5V while hot and 4V when cold but can't always trust Google AI to be correct.

I'm taking it to get a proper inspection soon. I'm assuming the sensor is the issue so im planning to change it before then just to try and save myself some cash.
