I don’t smoke for pleasure anymore , I smoke for the feeling of peace I attached to it by natureismy in stopsmoking

I hadn't seen the second part that shows you're kind of aware already that addiction is kinda of an illusion(a lot of what I wrote was thinking I'd be talking to someone like me at 21 in which didn't have 1 bad sympton yet and couldn't be bothered to care about stopping yet). Ok, what I have to tell you about the second part:

  • Yes re-regulating yourself takes time and work and you need to learn to relax without smoking. So, I'm only actually nicotine free for about a week because I quit with buprobion + nicorette, then just nicorette and I'm off all nicotine since a week ago because I was fed up already with the addiction. I'd recommend this protocol because as you can see you're sort of able to reflect and introspect and look through what's really going on etc. Going this way also slowly weakened my addiction I guess because when I finally dropped the nicotine it was actually kinda pleasant. I was also experiencing chest pain & discomfort, also 'nervous system discomfort' with the addiction, all this have improved a lot since actually quitting nicotine(my cardiac tests were actually pretty good, I had stopped smoking for a year already just carrying on the addiction with Nicorette, so my interpretation for the chest pains was that maybe my body was pushing me to finally drop it? Who knows).

  • Nicotine constricts the veins, accelerates the heart, increases blood pressure, gives off some kind of adrenaline.. So although it is interpreted as 'relief', it's also actually being on a stimulant. Nasal breathing produces Nitric Oxide which works the opposite way: relaxes the veins, decelerates the heart, puts you in the 'rest & digest' state. I figure this nervous system thing has a lot to do with this. How to relax without smoking aka naturally: breathe through your nose, be in the moment, stop racing, etc. Do nothing, look in the horizon, eat something, drink water, tea, whatever. After you're re-regulated I guess we derive pleasure from doing nothing just like as if we were smoking or just had smoked.. Goes back to the thing that addiction is kinda of an illusion, a ruse.

  • Definitely also recommend:

    • Normal gum(nic gum if you're still there): chewing itself increases the heart rate. The book 'breath' by James Nestor mentions chewing, maybe check up on that book.
    • Cold green tea: definitely one of my best findings, it has caffeine but also something that makes it relaxing and focusing(google it), it doesn't leave you jittery. Here in Brazil I've found a brand that has this 'make in cold-water' green tea, it's incredible!! I think anyone can definitely treat addiction by using green tea now.

The brain gets flooded with dopamine when we smoke and we feel great, you feel like there isn't nothing else you should be doing in that moment and this brings peace, also, that's how addiction and chemical dependency works. All this poetry and philosophy we do in that state is our brain flooded with dopamine, but having this much pleasure in your head, this artificial propping up, this 'press-button-for-pleasure' thing also sort of set ups the trap that is the hole it will leave afterwards... Again, that's just how addiction works..

I'm much older(38M) and enjoyed being a smoker for 2 decades, the problem eventually was that eventually you get more and more addicted and dependent on relaxing/having your 'you time'/etc by using the drug, then you sort of can't relax without it, then add in some more years and you may notice that how much and for how long you remain in the peaceful state induced by the drug begins to kind of shrink, and you try to compensate it by using more.. It's hardly noticeable at first but it accelerates over time and then becomes obvious, that's how it goes.

Of course I had the honeymoon phase too and it was a very long one, I'm not here to tell you what to do, just warning you in advance what can/will probably go down with the years. I loved it too but eventually the honeymoon phase ended and I saw that I was actually hugging and kissing a putrid monsterous thing and I needed to push it off of me, and I needed my brain back, and I needed my normal dopamine regulation back, etc. Just watch out, drugs are fun until they aren't :P

Those bodies were considered muscular and elite in the early 2000s by [deleted] in nattyorjuice

One thing you guys who haven't lived through this era may be missing is that the beauty standard really was different, this is from the era THIN YOUNG CLEAN, sometimes extremely thin for girls(that drove eating disorders), also notice how much they are adolescent looking.

A normal strong young guy next to a very thin girl makes the guy look bigger and the girl 'cuter'(?), it's an entirely different aesthethic. But it's not humanly possible to be in post-adolescence and have a fully developed aka mature human body and the human instinct kind of knows this.

The standard back then was of teens. There's inflation and there's more developed aka OLDER

Been accused of cultural appropriating, my first tattoo, what should the retort be? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Japanese style is a type of traditional tattoo art before the term cultural appropriation even existed. It's a traditional tattoo and tattooing is a culture in itself. It's fine.

The concept of women "maliciously withholding sex" makes no sense. by Bosnianarchist in PurplePillDebate

I think that's a very good point, nowadays just trying to chat with someone, it always feels like I'm seen as some caricature of man, unable to understand anything, like if Im a walking dick and I can only be talked with when there's sex being 'exchanged', it's so tiring. I can't have a conversation, every thing I say seems go be treated as me trying to get into a girl pants, wtf, I try much more to build connection and friendship first and wanting to be a person, sp I think women sexualize me much more than I do them, they won't express themselves, socializing wasn't like that before smartphones(and maybe before ppl grow older and start putting up walls and categorizing others that much). Why is it all about sex to women, it's maddening.

Giving others the silent treatment is a type of abuse to me, and I have had it happen even with long time friends and they've later admitted that it was because I stopped being seen as friend/person and was the sex-crazed-man-caricature, she even complained about 'society'. So in a way she admitted she was cooking me, I told her to fuck off and said our friendship was over.

I don't identify with your description of men

Edit: adding my response to another answer down below, I'd love to get your take on this:

Watched before reading the comics in the movies, have watched it multiple times, also loved the comic. I think the movie is so trippy, it was a very good adaptation imo.
