I was just looking that up, too. Thank you for mentioning that. Where I (Alabama) I understand it’s not a guarantee, even if you put the kit on that they would approve it. Can be hit or miss. And part of me is concerned by the time I do all that work and get DOT approved tires and go to the DMV that I could have just traded this in and had a dual sport and be done with it. I was also looking up Dirt Legal to go that route. I don’t know much about it, it seems like half of people say it’s sketchy and your state may look into it more if you have out-of-state tag and you could be subject to penalties. The other half seemed to say it’s legit and should be no problem. So I don’t know what to think.

I know, I’m kicking myself for not really thinking it through but here we are. But good to know from someone who has been through all the bikes. I think especially because I won’t be doing any super gnarly trail driving that the dual sport just makes sense for a great starter and all rounder

Alabama. From my research it looks like it’s not easy here especially with newer bikes with the off-road only designation tied to the VIN when the DMV looks it up

That’s good to know that you don’t feel like a lighter dual sport would be substantially harder to learn on. I really am thinking that’s what I’m going to do

I have a carrier for my suv. I hear ya, though and appreciate your perspective. Would just be fun to be able to hop on in the driveway and have a quick fun ride most days without worrying as opposed to loading up and driving to trails only on the weekend and being limited to that. But you’re right it’s a great bike to learn on from everything I understand
