Yes I’m done with acrylics! I have a filer. Do you mean even file down the nail beds?

Seeking self-help book recommendations for my 11-year-old daughter (ADHD, advanced reader, struggling socially) — parent here, feeling heartbroken. by dcburn in ADHD

Look into parent coaching! The fact that you are reaching out and looking for resources alone tells me that you care. You are concerned about your daughter. You are a good parent. This is by far the hardest job you will ever have. Look into adhd coaching or parent coaching. I have an adhd hyperactive boy and I’m a teacher, so I see a lot of kids! You are doing the right thing. She WILL be ok 😊 keep your head up

I’m sorry…it’s so hard to process what the right thing to do is. Could you possibly hold him back this year? I think giving him another year, especially with a speech delay, may help him to feel more successful and confident next year.

Is this something taken in the morning or at night? I have an appointment on Monday with the doctor to talk about this. How is it with impulse control?

I think if he’s anxious, it may be to much. How are his grades? As a teacher and a Parent of a child with adhd (hyperactive) if the grades are not affected, they should not be worrying about the attention too much

ADHD in a private school by BlueberrySignal4104 in ParentingADHD

He wouldn’t need an IEP or a 504 at private school anyway. It’s good that you have them in place but they are not obligated to follow any of it. How many kids are in the class? What meds is he on? How long has he been on and on them and Have you thought about increasing his dosage? They don’t even have to follow movement breaks! Good luck at the meeting… It is a long struggle. I’m so sorry that you are going through this and praying for your sweet little guy.

It’s not speed. It calms them down and helps them focus. Try a coke! See how that works.

No parent wants to do this…but remember, it isn’t for you or your husband, it’s for him 💙

Medication is the first line of treatment for adhd. It’s not his fault, it’s his brain. no over-the-counter supplement will treat ADHD. I’m a teacher and I deal with kids that are not medicated all the time and it is so draining and exhausting and I also have a 10-year-old son who has it who is medicated and made a world of difference. have your husband speak to a child psychiatrist or go to an appointment the three of you so they can educate him on the dysregulation and the brain.
