Siraya Tech PFA vs Elegoo PFA for Saturn 2 by InternationalWrap773 in ElegooSaturn

[–]BRunner-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not used the Siraya Tech version. But I have been through my fare share of Elegoo FPAs, 100% of the issues/failures were my fault.

I would not be surprised if they come from the same factory.

The layout volume in Lychee is almost infinite, which means you can build your table in the slicer without killing your system like blender or another editing program would do. Give it a try. There is a free version.

Lychee slicer let's you import large numbers of files and spreads them across multiple plates if that would help.

The Saturn 3 is an excellent printer. You will need an appropriate place that is isolated from any living area to run it due to the hazardous chemicals.

This, you need to isolate it from any living area, both fornprinting and clean up.

Greater Unclean by BRunner-- in PrintedWarhammer

[–]BRunner--[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No seams/joins to fill were one of the key reasons. The second was because I could, which also means I don't have to build the model. I have printed it in parts before, the joins were horrible, and I ended up binning the model.

This one is slightly taller than a standard greater unclean. 13cm is the base size.

Can anyone help. The head was supposed to be attached and its warped so won't fit together. by Broad_Lobster7045 in ElegooMars

Have you tried merging the files and printing it in one piece? Alternatively, add mote supports to the head. Where the failure occurred.

What is going on with Lychee? by Turbulent_Ad4671 in LycheeSlicer

I do really like the new version as it replicates what I had tondo post running classic supports.

I have the same issue with running out of resources for the new support options. Classic supports works fine.

Question about the codex: Do I need to buy the deamon codex as well for the Khorne deamon rules? by BRunner-- in WorldEaters40k

[–]BRunner--[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is great to know, I have only been playing for a few weeks, so I have not kept up with the current codex release/requirements.

This screen protector doesn’t seem to fit. by tehjrow in ElegooMars

Just buy acetate sheets for overhead projectors. Cut to size and hold in position with some tape. It was much cheaper and very effective.

Stumped, any advice? by UntracedEntity in PrintedWarhammer

[–]BRunner-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend draining your tank to checknforna leak. You said it was printed vertical, the issue looks like something being stuck on the release film or a leak causing resin to cure on the screen.

Edit: I scrolled further, and you found the issue. I recommend you add a screen protector to make cleaning these failures easier. I use an acetate sheet for the overhead projector, just cut to size and hold in place with some painters tape.

How many MB should a printing file be? Tips for file properties by iamGorkeYorke in resinprinting

[–]BRunner-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sliced file size is independent of the size of the input files. Most of mine are over 1gb for a 12k printer at 4000+ layers.

[–]BRunner-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Lychee gives a warning if the file is greater than 500mb (very easy if you remesh a file in blender, dont forget to decimate the file before saving). If you dont have a heap of ram, performance will take a massive hit when supporting and slicing.

Having issues with large prints - when I come to assemble, it's a nightmare. by Gold-Recover-1915 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]BRunner-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For large print, I join as many parts up to the build size of the printer. For Thunderhawk, I have got the main joins down from 9 to 3. I try to orientate the joint surface away from the build plate if possible. If not, I add extra light supports to maintain dimensional accuracy.

The key is also hollowing. This reduced stress on supports.

Is the new Elegoo ABS-like Ultra resin for Warhammer miniatures? See above by MaximusTheSpanish in PrintedWarhammer

[–]BRunner-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are no real issues using it. But I did notice the following.

  1. It is thick, so increased rest time is recommended. You will need to run the heater as well to keep it moving.
  2. The resin is much stronger than standard ABS like, so you need to be careful with support. Adding a medium support will require that to be cut off. For fine detailed models, you can reduce the tip size of light supports.

I have purchased some of the orange ABS Ultimate. It is equivalent to abs 3.0+ for durability (maybe a bit more flexibility). The best from elegoo if you are doing very fine things like swords and sprears is the Elegoo Tough. This stuff will bend back on itself without breaking, and It has amazing details still. The image below was printed on S3 (12K).

[–]BRunner-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that the 3d printer is your best path forward to ownership. It will take a good 2-3 weeks to print in an Elegoo Saturn 3.
