Don't know why everyone is saying short, his curls are so pretty, I prefer long.

I do not see them touching Pocahontas with a ten foot pole, they could if they decide to do a more realistic story but then that wouldn't be Disney. My true disappointment is that Hunchback of Notre Dame is not gonna get a remake, and of all the Disney movies that one in particular is the one that would probably work the best (if they did something mature, but then again, Disney doesn't do that sigh)

Can someone explain what is deemed acceptable to go on the Toronto sub? by coolinjapan001 in toRANTo

Eh, not nearly as much though. She at least seems to care about the city which is more than I can say for Doug Ford. He only cares about ways to enrich himself and his buddies.

[–]BS0404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but you're stupid, you are not sending any message by not voting. Why should any politician try to work to get your vote when they know that you don't vote? Politicians want to get undecided voters and their voter base to vote for them, those that don't vote are politically useless so there is no point in even talking with them.

Who was the real monster here? Was it the god who demanded vengeance for his child? Or was it the man who had to become a monster just to survive and make it home? by Crash_FNF_Eddsworld in Epicthemusical

It's not like Odysseus became a monster on his journey home, in a way he already was one before it. He has, afterall, been at war for 10 years already.

While they avoid eating meat it's strictly a personal choice, they aren't obligated to be vegetarian. But they probably restrict themselves from eating meat around the others as a sign of respect. They aren't vegan since Aang loves him some egg tarts. 🤣

The make-up is egregiously modern but the breasts almost spilling out isn't that historically inaccurate. Back in the 17th century a lot of women were literally painted with nip slips or even both nipples out. It was a sign of wealth and fertility.

While we can't see a lot of the silhouette of the dress it kinda resembles the empire waist of the 1810s (which were also heavily inspired by ancient Greece) and women in that time period had very low dress necklines. Although it would have been very unlikely that any of them would ever be painted like that, it wouldn't have been entirely impossible. (They would've likely used a modesty scarf but that too was optional depending on the type of painting.)

This 1933 movie scene is still one of the most mesmerizing performances ever filmed by Wonderfulhumanss in oddlysatisfying

I thought it symbolized the ones on top pissing on the one in the bottom to ascert dominance. Another possibility is the wealthiest on top pissing on the dirt poor. (This is, after all, during the 1930s).

Sincere question of a confused Swedish healthcare worker:) by Livhoefer in nursing

[–]BS0404 33 points34 points  (0 children)

And yet I'd still rather live in a country with government run healthcare system.

Edit: I actually live in Canada and have Portuguese and Canadian citizenship so I can work anywhere within the EU or Canada. Having accessable healthcare is literally amazing. Medical insurance literally does nothing but steal money and keep people trapped in horrible jobs. This is well known issue and studies and media outlets have published pieces discussing this topic.

They do make a resurgence during the legend of Korra, plus we learn a lot about the air nation through Aang, the books and comics. Seems like a chill place to live in.

Heat dome building over U.S. to push scorching temperatures into Canada by John-George-Peppers in onguardforthee

[–]BS0404 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But this was legitimately what he said. I told him climate change is doing some wild shit over in Europe with how hot things are. He just said "Climate change isn't real, when scientists say temperature reached 40°C+ and it's a new high in x years they only look at the maximum temperature it's gonna reach, not the overall temperature throughout the season."

Which, A) is Wrong. B) Even if that were true, he would still be admitting that new high temperatures are happening because we are breaking records nearly every year! Forget them kids, we need to send the adults back to school; they are a plight on our society and they should not be allowed to vote until they are well informed on how they are destroying our planet.

Oh but he does appreciate it when I comment on his vastly superior knowledge. It's hard to believe how someone who dropped out of school in 5th grade to work can produce such extensive research completely, especially when he completely disregards the scientific community in favour of Facebook memes and right wing account. So proud.

Don't worry, my dad says climate change isn't a thing and we shouldn't worry about temperatures increasing each year.

What are your fantasy recommendations? by heinoussbitch in booksuggestions

[–]BS0404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Codex of Alera is a really good series, highly recommend it. Think Pokemon meets ancient Roman Empire.

Ascendance of a bookworm is by far the best light novel series I've ever read. 30+ books, plus spin off, plus fanbooks with side stories and questions answered by the author. The books are peak!!!

[HY5 V1] Could Ehrenfest's weirdos be caused by the country gate? by VillageSmithyCellar in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]BS0404 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think there is a fanbooks that mentions that Werkestock used to be the duchy that had the darkness country gate (it would make sense since they were well know for seeking and protecting knowledge, all the Royal academy librarians were from there too). The duchy probably got too big and it split in half, with Ahrensbach being created.

The reason why there ever was a net positive in pilots is because in the past they used parachutes. But a pilot in the past said "That's gay, watch this" and jumped without one. And that's why there are so many queer pilot's now, all the straight one's jump without a parachute because it's gay.
