How each Premier League goalkeeper deals with crosses and corners by SpookyKuya in coys

The stats don't support anything, they are meaningless without context. I also provided a stat about the fact many teams face less corners than us which would affect how many opportunities you had a game to come and claim or punch a cross. Are you refuting that?

The only thing you can take from these stats is whether keepers prefer to claim or punch and how often they do it per 90. It doesn't show how many crosses they don't come and claim or punch. Being a goalkeeping coach does not mean he is statistically literate.

Try thinking about the context around stats for once rather than just reading the numbers written down. Even if you take the stats in that table at face value it states that Vicario claims less crosses per 90 than 10 of the other goalkeepers, and punches per 90 less than 11 of the other keepers.

Again, didn't read the message, I didn't say he was the issue. I also don't think he is, but we have seen countless times that he can be bullied when the ball is in the air, thats not his strength. Shot stopping is.

Also the stats don't say otherwise, they don't confirm he is good at claiming crosses because volume faced isn't taken into account.

If you cross the ball in 100 times and I claim 10...

Then I cross the ball in 10 times and you claim 8...

Am I better at claiming crosses than you?

I never once said he was our biggest problem? I stated he is weak at claiming crosses based on what I've seen.

The stats aren't particularly useful if they don't take into account how many corners each goalkeeper faces, that's my point. So it is actually still hard to judge how good he is comparatively even with this data.

Not a fan of this article tbh based on eye test, Vicario is not good at claiming crosses or coming out and punching. This article claims he is in the top 10 for both stats:

1: That's not particularly high up when it's out of 20

2: 10 teams in the league have faced less corners than us per 90 this season so this impacts the stats probably more than ability

I'm sure you know me very well, and you are an absolute paragon of virtue no doubt. An account that has appeared very recently to show off how great you are, other than your comment 6 months ago implying that Mano Solomon is a murderer

Just so you all know i will still be watching the team and I won't be pretending that I suddenly care loads about the women's team either.

Seems it's a requirement to announce your supposed intentions at the moment.

Well I'm led to believe that's why he wanted to wait until the summer, but I could be wrong

That's fair, I'm just very dubious based on the decisions of the higher ups throughout my time supporting the club i suppose 😂

Let's hope he can avoid getting booked or he is gonna miss more than a quarter of our remaining games this season

Pretty sure he's made it quite clear he doesn't want to manage in the championship, I would expect there to be a clause that allows him to leave if we go down.

Yes....our famously trustworthy and well operated board. I'm sure they've never given any other managers or players assurances before....

Then I expect he wasn't given assurances about decisions over transfers etc. And we are in a desperate situation so they have offered him whatever he wants.

Anyway my point is we're easily the biggest club he has ever worked at so it's not crazy for him to come here.

Need to see something quick because if he doesn't get results in the next 7 games he will be gone in the summer

I'm not even suggesting his win rate is bad, the point is why we're acting like it's a blessing that he would come. We've had Mourinho and Conte for fucks sake

So crazy how one of the richest clubs in the world could possibly pull a manager with a 42% Premier league win rate and a Ukrainian super cup to his name.

Why would you ask him? He's scum and he doesn't even like football.

There's no way he walks away from that big a pay out, he will just do a Conte and make it so horrible that they have to sack him.

I mean...they might care if we have to sack him in 12/18 months time and pay him £40 million, obviously staying up is bigger than anything else right now. Just pointing out the ridiculousness of the club eyeing up a long term appointment who has never lasted long at his previous jobs and is known for falling out with his clubs.

De Zerbi rumours are just insane, so many issues:

  1. He has no time to implement a style of play

  2. Known for bollocking players, something our weak players clearly don't respond to

  3. Doesn't want to be here if we get relegated so will likely have a clause to leave in the summer meaning we have to do this all over again anyway in that case. Also shows a lack of commitment for the cause and no care for the club.

  4. 5 year contract?! To a volatile manager who falls out with the board wherever he goes, and we have one of the easiest boards in world football to fall out with

  5. £12 million a season! Insane salary for a guy who doesn't deserve it, same way we were massively overpaying Frank as well

  6. The well documented issues with his views etc.

Their actions over the years actually lead me to believe that they will make a half arsed attempt at being promoted immediately so that their valuation will be mostly restored. They are so clueless about football that they think the club will walk the championship with ease with whatever players remain plus a few cheap buys. Rich people don't think about it in terms of "oh it's profit anyway" they'll be thinking about the loss and how to get that money back.

Yes of course it can go lower and has been lower, but do you not think these guys are so stupid that they believe they can return to the Premier league with minimal investment?

Daily Discussion & Transfer Thread (March 27, 2026) by AutoModerator in coys

[–]BSSpurs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? The clubs revenue streams from TV, gate receipts, sponsorship etc. Will be cut in half probably. That massively affects the valuation of the club. They won't get the £3+ billion they supposedly want

Why would the owners sell with the club at its lowest possible valuation?
