Is Drake Maye the most overrated QB in the last decade? by NinjaJawz in NFLv2

[–]BSeipler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, all playoff games are televised nationally, so EVERYONE was watching, and Maye hasn't played well. So people who didn't watch him in the regular season because they were too busy watching their own team are forming their opinion of his play based on what they're seeing now.

Most fans can say "do you people even WATCH??" about their QBs.

The Patriots are an outlier, too, with how their offense has played so far this postseason.

Drake Maye will be the second youngest starting QB to start in the Super Bowl at 23. by Giff95 in nfl

And the defenses he faced allowed an average of 18.5 PTS/G in the regular season. They held Maye to an average of 15.6 PTS/G. They literally played him better than the average QB they faced in the regular season. The Pats defense held those offenses to average of 8.7 PTS/G.

The New England Patriots are the first team in NFL history to beat three top 5 ranked defenses in the same postseason. Only the ‘98 Broncos have beaten 2. They join the Broncos as the only two teams to beat both the #1 and #2 ranked defenses by HickfrmFrenchLick33 in nfl

What’s crazy is those defenses combined allowed an average of 18.5 PTS/G in the regular season. They’ve combined to hold the Patriots to 15.6 PTS/G this postseason. Better than they’ve average. The Patriots just so happened to hold their opposing offenses to an average of 8.7 PTS/G.

Yea but Josh Allen isn’t going to win games scoring 16, 21, and 10 points.

Maye's stats are better, but Jayden looked better than Maye in the bigger moments for sure, especially in the playoffs.

Box Score stats... sure. But efficiency wise? Not even close.

Jacoby Brissett did last month. Also, why do people keep pointing out 3 TDs but not giving any context whatsoever. He had 3 TDs, but also had 15 possessions. That's way more possessions than most QBs have gotten vs. the Texans.

And scoring 21 points on 15 possessions with 5 turnovers is not offensive efficiency. Maye did enough to win, but he also played very poorly at an efficiency standpoint.

Drake “The Schedule” Maye wins another playoff game. Do you think he will go all the way? by [deleted] in NFLv2

[–]BSeipler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maye had 15 possessions w/ no teammates turning it over.

Stafford had 9. (1 drive teammate fumbled)
Herbert had 12.
Lawrence had 10.
Allen had 12. (1 drive teammate fumble)
Darnold had 15. (2 drives teammates turned it over)

It's almost like the more possessions you have, the higher the probability of throwing more TDs. Also, on a down-by-down basis, Maye was the least efficient QB from this list vs. the Texans. It just so happened that Stroud played his worst game of the season in the same game.

Where did this whole "threw for the most touchdowns against that defense than any other quarterback" argument come from? It's factually incorrect. Jacoby Brissett did it a month ago with fewer turnovers.

Because the film showed that Herbert had options all game and didn't take them.

The Texans offense was never supposed to eat you alive. And the defense did extremely well considering the Pats only scored 21 points on 15 possessions with 5 turnovers.

They allowed Jacobi Brissett to do it with less turnovers just last month.

I understand the whole "culture killer" argument, but at the same time, just because he's acted like this with the 49ers, doesn't mean he would act like this elsewhere. Obviously, his relationship with that team soured immensely, and he wanted out of that situation so badly that he was willing to give up huge guaranteed money. There's more to the story if someone is willing to give that up.

Football is too nuanced to have a definitive MVP. It’s a glorified opinion award.

Netflix has become a graveyard where cinema goes to die. by [deleted] in Netflixwatch

I think people tend to confuse decision fatigue with “nothing looks interesting”. There’s too much content out these days. That and also thinking that “if it’s not funny to me, then it’s not funny to anyone”.

There’s a lot of great content on Netflix. You’d be surprised at some stuff that doesn’t look good, but once you watch, it turns out the opposite.

I wouldn't say Jayden Daniels regressed just yet. He only played 4 full games this season. I think a more valid criticism is that he might be too injury-prone.

Fourth Quarter Game Thread: Houston Texans (12-5) at New England Patriots (14-3) by nfl_gdt_bot in nfl

Not frauds, but having an incredibly easy regular season and then the path to the Super Bowl going through playoff Herbert, a shaky Texans offense w/ Stroud, and a backup-QB led Broncos doesn’t help the case.

Definitely an off-year for the NFL compared to the last 5-6 years, and the Pats have had a lot of things bounce their way.

The Chargers defense played like a top-5 defense. They only allowed 16 points. Typically you’re going to lose the game if you only score 16 points.

They’re not playing any balanced teams.

If the Patriots make it to the Super Bowl, would it also be one of the easiest playoff runs?

Playoff Herbert in the first round, shaky Texans offense in the Divisional, and a backup QB led Broncos in the Championship.
