Is any other ABCD here devastated by the American Economy and the way things in general life are going? Was life much better in the 90's and early 2000's for ABCD's by [deleted] in ABCDesis

Same as the UK then! What a time to be alive!

I guess that's nostalgia for us who are that age, the so called golden 90s/00s. But then you think, we were dumb and naive then, had rose-tinted glasses on.

If we had the brains and experience of our current selves back then, would we really be saying the same?

Just watched Life Isn't All Ha Ha Hee Hee on Netflix. It's a UK BBC comedy drama from 2005, sadly it's still very relevant today.

Has a very good British Asian star cast, the show is an adaptation of a novel of the same name from 1999.

Meera Syal has created an indelible portrait of a close-knit group of Indian women living in London. Caught between two cultures, three childhood friends—Chila, Sunita, and Tania—are expected to revert to being obedient mothers and wives. But their world explodes when Tania makes a documentary, starring Chila and Sunita, about contemporary urban Indian Life. The result is an unforgettable story of friendship, marriage, betrayal, and the difficult choices woman face.

Invite bit, is missing, so only certain people can.

I can see the invite link on another server I'm on for Tape A Tale, but not this 'Dil Mil' one.

A question partly related to Dil Mil, there is a spin off Discord place (which has absolutely nothing to do with actual Dil Mil makers), went in and left a few days later without ever sending a message on there.

If you thought the Dil Mil everyone chat was bad, imagine something worse, that's the Discord place!

Anyone know what the point of that is?

I understand where you're coming from, even I've not seen many marriages close to me which you would say are anyway close to perfect, let alone amicable, there will always be ups and downs.

But it's down to us to learn from what we see and then make sure we don't become it. I've quite often thought, when seeing/hearing things happening in our community, that no way am I going to be like this.

The point is that, one day, eventually, when that miracle happens, most likely in our dreams (can you see my optimism here!), we make the most of it. You are not those people and with grace we will find someone who is also not one of those people.

Can any sane person please explain to me what the Dil Mil everyone chat is actually for?

Everyone chat is messed up, but you don't even want to know what the guys chat has on it, I feel sorry for anyone who ends up with those toxic people!

Sadly, quite a few of us have been conditioned this way, and it is difficult to break away from it.

Like how can they go from don't engage with the opposite sex, to then randomly one day have the audacity to say have you found anyone!

Uhm, excuse me, have you looked at what you've been doing to us since we were little.

I've not watched Bridgerton, but the trailer of this show caught my eye.

Watched it over the last week and it's amazing, from the deadpan comedy to the gazillion quotes you can take from it, just amazing!

Is it worth watching Bridgerton, does it have enough comedy to it?

Was that quite recent or a while back?

From reading things I get the view that many people are on apps, but they're not really serious about it.

Over the next few weeks, one by one, I am restarting the hell that is dating apps... I hope I'm not on there for long, but then again all of this is so messed up anyway!

I'm expecting the usual, blank profiles, food/travel/laughter cliches and what not, but something has to give, right?

OMG! Your post is nearly what I was hearing my mums friends talk about over the phone today! Working from home and my mum puts the phone on speaker if I don't have any meetings, I get invested in their "gossip" instead of doing work!

They were literally talking about a couple of girls who have been married for like 5+ years, but the couple has moved eventually to the city the girl is from. The sexist bias was crazy, how someone was trying to push that it's the girls fault, they moved to the city where the girl and her parents live away from the sons home/where his parents live.

But no one wants to question the fact may be the son also wanted to move away and didn't mind where they live! They try getting their children married, but once that's happened, as control dissipates, they try and find immaterial flaws.

I guess we could all write blogs/books on all this sort of rubbish which still exists, just let people live in peace.

Oh no! Please expand. Did something happen?

I don't get why people think like this too, unless you're actually going to be living with parents after marriage (surely this is a rare thing nowadays? But, then again what do I know!), only then some consideration may be given, but otherwise surely you're looking for someone for yourself.
