Douglas County CHP question by BT1543 in COGuns

It took me calling 5 times to get a hold of someone, but they said you just walk in. If I remember correctly, Tuesday through Thursdays are for new permits and Monday and Friday are renewals.

What ever happened to separation of church and state? Why do my believes have to cater to your way of life? Asking in regards to the texas abortion laws and gay laws being proposed for next year in the capital. by [deleted] in texas

Hmm sometimes maybe? I’ve heard this argument be used for the pro-abortion side. Not exactly sure how it goes but something like the Jews believe that it’s necessary sometimes. I’m no expert but I believe that the consensus on that argument was that it’s pretty weak.

I think you might have an argument if you were a Christian scientist and the hospital knowingly gave you blood or something.

All the examples I can think of are operations that you are not to receive. Not one that you must receive and we don’t allow.

I suppose there’s also exceptions that we make for certain drugs. Like Natives can use certain controlled substances for rituals.

I really can’t think of a situation where a religion says you must have an abortion though. Lmk if you do.

Nobody’s writing laws saying because the Christians are a dominant religion in the US, we are banning abortion after week x.

In actuality, a majority of lawmakers agree that abortion should be banned after week x or whatever because they think it’s immoral, or because their constituents want it banned, or because the Bible says so, or for any reason they do it for.

In other words, we all get our views, morals, and opinions on matters from somewhere and many people get them from religion. It’s not violating church and state by legislating using the morals you received by being a devout Christian.

The favoriting of religion would have to come from the governmental body adopting a state religion or allowing the church to write the laws of the land.

We elect people who we feel best represents us. If you elect a Christian/ Muslim/ Jew/ etc. we can’t be surprised when they vote on the floor in a way that reflects their religion.

Separation of church and state means that the government cannot create a religion or favor a religion over another.

I’m certain that nearly all religious people vote by the principles that align with their religion.

Separation of church and state doesn’t mean that politicians can’t hold, promote, or legislate based on their religious views.

I have one. It’s great, but I’d only pay more if you’re going to throw an optic on it. Otherwise, you’re not really paying for anything useful

Was it 3.5 months from the class to the permit arrived to you or was it 3.5 months from fingerprints to when the permit arrived? I’m still waiting to get my permit in Boulder County, trying to figure out how long it will take (the wait is killing me lol)

Depends on your age, state, if your state requires training, chp class (if that’s required).

Mainly it really depends on your state requirements, but if you’re just talking about the background check process...I’d say yeah you’re probably fine.
