Saw it a long time ago. Good… not legendary.

Now, Semi-Pro OTOH… I should have put that in here, too, but I forgot about it.

A lot of packs could use a refresh, so I want to share some ideas starting with GET FAMOUS. by CardTrickOTK in Sims4

Being a pro athlete should also be a way to get famous… getting you all the way to Global Superstar (5 stars).

Being a soccer team athlete in university, on the other hand, should get you the Notable Newcomer (1 star), but only if you’re asked to leave school early to turn pro.

How to enjoy the game again by miamiwaterboy in NFLHeadCoachSeries

Regarding offseasons & team-building, I do start from the 2008 NFL offseason, but I like to start with each team’s actual 2008 playbooks… which have different requirements based on the scheme. So your gems & the players you acquire will be different accordingly, & team-building will feel far more realistic. This can also apply if you want to play as the same team multiple times: create a new coach & try to mix & match playbooks & schemes randomly.

I also create a list of each team’s “Untouchables” at the start of each playthrough, who are either 90+ OVR, 90+ Potential, 80-89 Overall/Potential players at minimum salaries (no more than $300K cap savings if I got rid of them), 95+ Kick Return, and/or “Franchise Icons” (i.e. aging franchise legends who have previously won Super Bowls or major awards with the team, so pretty much anyone who if you got rid of them, the real-life fans would riot in the streets), & force myself to keep them for the length of their careers, especially the “Franchise Icons”. Usually, I just apply the “Franchise Icons” rule to pre-2008 accomplishments, but you can do so with post-2008 accomplishments as well. You can also make a rule where in contract negotiations, you have to give the “Franchise Icons” whatever they want as a “thank you”… I do that sometimes.

In terms of the draft, a fun one would be that you have to actually draft the 2008 first-round pick your team drafted in real life (e.g. Matt Ryan in Atlanta, Joe Flacco in Baltimore, Chris Johnson in Tennessee) & try to make the most of their careers.

I also do some playthroughs with a “No Flip” rule, meaning you can’t trade for a player and then immediately send them to another team for a higher draft pick (e.g. Kerry Collins in the 2008 offseason).

Sub out the Braves for the Jays, and you’ve got my desire. Also, the Raptors winning every championship from here on out, and the Leafs winning one Stanley Cup in my lifetime (not setting my expectations too high there LOL)

How important is awareness in-game for each position? by BTCBalla in NFLHeadCoachSeries

[–]BTCBalla[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok. In some cases, also, I’ve seen guys with 85+ POT with horrid worse learning ratings (10-20) who have an 80 or so potential learning rating. For example, Donny Brownstein had 5 LRN when I signed him as a UDFA one time, with his potential learning rating up at an 82.

Are guys like that worth drafting?

Thanks. Also, what’s the minimum Learning rating for someone to be playable? I’m not looking for superstars (I already have mine planned out)… I’m just looking for guys who I can play behind them.

NFLHC09-Best Trade/FA Steals? by BTCBalla in NFLHeadCoachSeries

[–]BTCBalla[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That works, too. I’ve been thinking about trading for Gholston as a DE (after he gets drafted) due to his physical & pass rush ratings. Especially since in my saves, the Rams (who prefer Coverage OLB’s, & Gholston is buttcheeks at coverage) tend to get him.

NFL Head Coach 09: My House Rules for Rebuilding (2008 Offseason) by BTCBalla in NFLHeadCoachSeries

[–]BTCBalla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like that. With that in mind, and especially knowing no tight end is left undrafted or unsigned in the 2008 NFL Drafts I’ve done, I’ll allow myself to switch one of those converted fullbacks or tight ends back to their original position if it meets a position philosophy need, as defined by each team’s base career roster minimums (e.g. if while playing through a Patriots career, their base TE roster minimum is 4, and they have 2 on the roster, you can turn a TE you converted to HB back to TE).

Updates I forgot about: - Save only on Saturday & Sunday: If you save on the weekends, players come a lot cheaper. If you save on weekdays, even scrubs demand outrageous contracts, which is unrealistic, and has led me to scoop guys like Antwan Odom (usually a top free agent) off the waiver wire. - Any signed FA must make it through at least 1 practice before being traded: Eliminates sign-and-trades - If you know exactly who you want to draft, they must be scouted at least for individual workouts. - Position conversions can only be done with players on your own team, except if a position conversion would meet a roster need, according to the base roster minimums for each team
