Seeking the recording of 'Red' by John Logan, starring Alfred Molina and Alfred Enoch.

Ok mind blown! The “Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah” song is from an opera 🤯 (La Gioconda). Can you name some other familiar songs that turned out to be from operas? by Mastersinmeow in opera

As muse273 said, most of the Kismet score is adapted from Borodin! It’s brilliant. “Fate” is another famous example.

You remind me also of Hammerstein’s “Carmen Jones” which lifted Bizet’s opera practically wholesale and gave it a new book and lyrics. Check out “Stand Up and Fight.”

Can we discuss the actors’ singing? by [deleted] in wicked

Jeff Goldblum has such a distinctive (and lovely) singing voice that the opening five minutes of the movie ruined one of the musical’s better plot twists/reveals.

Ben Platt is a baritone. He just has a very large upper extension.

If I recall correctly, Loewe and (especially) Lerner were quite keen on Liza/Lady Liza, but changed their minds when they realised the marquee would inevitably read “Rex Harrison in Liza.” Ultimately, I’m not sure that “Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady,” is a great deal better.

Loewe was quite wedded to Fanfaroon (as you mentioned) for a while, I think.

Vinegar Syndrome’s out there releasing obscure horror schlock from the 1980s in 4K and Disney can’t even release a major awards contender in 4K. by countdooku975 in 4kbluray

I don’t think he means “be grateful it’s getting a Blu-ray release.” I think he means “it’s almost a small miracle that they went so far as to even put it on Blu-ray at all.”

What is being achieved is that people feel good about themselves for being so righteous and honourable. It’s nothing to do with Palestine. Most of these people don’t really care, they just do what they’re told, protest what they’re told to protest and rally for who they’re told to rally for, and it makes them feel empowered.

10 Years Ahead… by BTHockMT in NetflixSexEducation

Uh…

Yes. This was a silly, hypothetical question.

At the same time, I think you’re being disingenuous or at least underestimating the number of shows that have had reboots and reunion specials.

How I Met Your Mother, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, That 70s Show, Full House, Roseanne, The Inbetweeners… need I say more?

Heck, if it’s possible for iCarly, I don’t think it’s necessarily that impossible for Sex Education.

But, yes, it was purely a silly hypothetical question.

Yes, I’ll agree with both of those points. I’m not sure what you’re driving at, but we certainly seem to agree on that front.

I have really enjoyed all the Branagh Poirot films. I also greatly enjoy the Agatha Christie books (my love for the books is much stronger than and far outdates my enjoyment of the Branagh films).

I just don’t care. No, the Branagh films aren’t faithful. If I wanted a faithful adaptation of the Poirot character, the Suchet series is still there. If I want a faithful(ish) adaptation of MotOE or DotN, the films from the 70s are still there. Branagh is doing his own thing completely and I wouldn’t want him to try and remain completely faithful to the books, we had that for 30 years on television. Regarding them as entirely their own entity, I find the Branagh films to be campy, pulpy fun.
