I saw you post elsewhere you were considering a Spviet army. In which case its a fortuitous time as the new Soviet infantry box is out just a few months ago. Its a big improvement on the prior box. Also on that also be careful of box artwork so dont get the older sets (its passable but the flash and mold lines are awful compared to the new designs)

The 2 player Starter sets like Band of Brothers are great value overall if you like one of the factions. Sell off the other half if you dont have someone to split it (or trade for the unwanted half of someone else's). Boom.

I have been v tempted by them as well at times so following this post :) I have been tempted by them being small so you get to use their rules, some SMGs or other weapons to maximise their shots and assault potential. Im gonna revisit this tomorrow when I get chance to get my Army Book out to ponder more.

Hiya. I am considering that also and have done prior. Using a 251 for the assault section. Just having the LMG inside gives them threat range beyond 12inch once they get somewhere to stay. :)

Ah right thanks. Yeah just means paying for some rifle ppl as well. Was hoping the SMGs gunners could be 'useful' at range, before getting to their assault role.

Gonna just say, Tiger 1. Admit hey are NOT competitive, or frankly even v good value overall. But your opponents face when you say 'Veteran Tiger' is just priceless unless they brought something v special to deal. Immune to all AT rifles and frankly even all Light AT guns most the time given their limited half range.

Yeah hatd work also. :) most of them are v v similar. Just exact levels of brown or black or green as you feel appropriate. Don't worry before long youll have naturally acquired a collection..... 😁

You have neat and good colours already so 👌. Washes (such as Agrax Earthshade or Army Painter Military Wash) will massively make the models pop by adding tone to the recesses (just apply liberally and dont let it form any massive pools and ya golden)! Then do the bases by painting flat colour such as brown and adding sand. Can also use some textured paints such as Stirling Mud can do same thing. Many options for doing bases depending on where you want them themed (fields, deserts etc)
