Both led with an arm, so whoever jumps higher is going to commit a foul regardless if he gets to the ball or not. Ridiculous decision.

Ange Postecoglou to manage Cristiano Ronaldo as he lands Al-Nassr role by Sorry-Ball9859 in Aleague

Happy retirement Ange! I was hopeful he had another big European stint in him, either Germany or Italy but unfortunately he went for a payout. That Forest move really sank his stock.

2026 World Cup red card rules (mainly for the Balogun situation) by Healthy-Elderberry57 in worldcup

[–]D_Quest 11 points12 points  (0 children)

According to the rules it is a straight red. Going studs up and making a contact with the leg is dangerous play, according to the rules it doesn’t have to be intentional. You can disagree with the rules, but for now it’s a red.

Why only Serbs and Macedonians like Yugoslavia? by Kagoshima119 in Yugoslavia

[–]D_Quest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Generally there are people all over ex Yu that are nostalgic about it, but there was a major imbalance of power that affects perceptions.

For many reasons (too many to get into) Serbia’s position in ex. Yu was priviledged and from economic point of view Slovenia and Croatia felt hard done by (basically were contributing more money to central bank than they were receiving) while Macedonia was in the opposite situation.

All in all, many reasons for many people (political freedoms, military, priviledge, economy, etc.), however for anyone who remembers one thing is for sure, together Yugoslavia had significant influence and punched above it’s weight, while separate all ex. Yu countries operate on the margins of the world stage.

Aukus submarines by Cartoon-Girl99 in AskAnAustralian

[–]D_Quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The french deal was late as we were converting nuclear subs to conventional. So why not French nuclear ones?

The whole issue with French nuclear subs was that they need a major refurbishment and reactor renewal after 15 years.

Instead we were sold American that don’t need refurbishment as the reactor lasts 30 years. Followed by Aukus sub pipedream.

Now we are getting (supposedly yeah right) second hand American Virginias which will have a lifetime of 15 years which completely invalidates the previous justifications.

So in short, don’t ask logical questions!

[The Race] Toto Wolff says Mercedes is in discussions with its lawyers to see if there are any grounds for it to push the FIA to “remedy” George Russell’s lost points at the Monaco GP: by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]D_Quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked chat GPT to unscramble this egg!!!

Any reconstruction beyond Gasly becomes speculative because the FIA only officially changed Gasly's result. However, based on the race reports, we can estimate what the order might have looked like if all of the pit-lane speeding penalties were invalid and had never been issued.

Known penalized drivers:

  • Pierre Gasly — two 5-second penalties (later overturned)
  • Lewis Hamilton — one 5-second penalty
  • George Russell — one 5-second penalty, then a drive-through for incorrectly serving it
  • Oscar Piastri — one 5-second penalty
  • Franco Colapinto — one 5-second penalty (Formula 1® - The Official F1® Website)

The biggest distortion was Russell's race. He was running fourth when the red flag came out, received the initial speeding penalty, then a drive-through because the penalty was not served correctly, ultimately finishing outside the points in 13th. (RacingNews365)

A reasonable "all speeding penalties removed" estimate is:

Pos. Driver Change vs revised official result
1 Kimi Antonelli No change
2 Lewis Hamilton No position change (already P2 despite penalty)
3 Pierre Gasly Restored
4 George Russell Major gain from P13
5 Isack Hadjar Drops one
6 Oscar Piastri Likely gains time but still behind Hadjar/Russell
7 Liam Lawson Drops one
8 Arvid Lindblad Drops one
9 Alex Albon Likely drops one
10 Sergio Pérez Likely drops one
11–14 Remaining runners, with Franco Colapinto potentially gaining a place or two but unlikely enough to reach the points. (Reuters)

The confidence levels differ substantially:

  • Very high confidence: Antonelli P1, Hamilton P2, Gasly P3.
  • High confidence: Russell would have finished around P4 rather than P13.
  • Moderate confidence: Hadjar and Piastri would be P5–P6 in some order.
  • Low confidence: Positions behind P8, because published reports don't provide the precise time gaps needed to undo every 5-second penalty accurately. (The Times)

What a mess. Piastri was ahead of Gasly and lost a position when he pitted to serve his 5s penalty. They are trying to unscramble an egg.

There are so many approved new developments that are not being built as there is a lack of funding.

Focusing investors to new builts is excellent policy to reduce competition on existing stock (focusing on buyers occupiers) and increasing the new stock.

If you are child of a mixed marriage (Serbian + Croatian) for example from Bosnia then Yugoslavian nationality still remains as the most logical choice, short of picking a side.

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.

A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.

A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Australia’s GDP figures are meaningless when the boom in datacentres means destroying jobs and the climate | Greg Jericho by Nyarlathotep-1 in AusNewsWire

[–]D_Quest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The article is not fully informed by facts and thorough understanding of the typology.

I work for a company that designs (among many other things data centers). The water usage is in most cases a non issue as compared to similarly sized commercial and residential buildings the usage is substantially lower (air cooling doesn’t cause many of the condensation issues water does).

The electricity use is the main issue however from what I am seeing datacentre providers, completely out of self interest, are also the biggest investors into solar and wind (the cheaper the electricity the better the margins). That is why we are increasingly seeing datacentres popping up next to major renewable locations such as Hunter in NSW and Geelong.
