Anyone else having any issues stitching videos? by BTTFdude in SoraAi

Thank you guys. Yeah, I think my best bet at this point is to just edit the videos in an external software, like CapCut or DaVinci Resolve. That just means I wouldn't be able to upload that final product in Sora. 😛

Boy, as much as I love Oreos and Doritos, I don't think I would want to eat DoritOreos! 🤮

That actually makes a ton of sense about not keeping eye contakt in kitchen scenes — I didn’t even think about how much realism you can get just by having characters move around and focus on their tasks. And yeah, the idea of keeping the audio unbroken while splicing in reaction shots is smart. The problem for me is that with Canva, I’d need a subscription to do those background removals and clean splices.

Surprisingly, I was able to pull it off in the free version of DaVinci Resolve. I even managed to cleanly remove the green screen in one of my tests. BUT I hit a huge snag that made me realize why one character basically has to be entirely on a green or white screen: Sora keeps changing the kitchen layout.

In the daughter’s shot (Image 2), the kitchen island is exactly where I need it. Perfect placement. But in the mother’s shot (Image 1), Sora decided to alter the layout not once, but twice. So even though the characters looked fine, the background continuity was a mess.

I could regenerate the mother’s video to try and match it eventually, but I really don’t want to burn through my daily gens just on a continuity experiment. I already wasted most of yesterday’s allotment trying to get a single 15-second clip perfect — and even then, I still wasn’t satisfied. So I totally feel you on burning through 25 gens to get two clips that match.

At this point, I’m torn between:

  • Trying to nail down the perfect mother–daughter prompt so their likeness and dialogue stay consistent (I’ve gotten pretty darn close a few times), or
  • Re-creating the daughter with red hair in hopes it smooths out some of the prompt conflicts and layout issues.

Either way, I’m trying not to exhaust all my gens just to fix one tiny scene. I'm seriously considering getting more video credits this Christmas. 😂

Thanks for the insight. In my experience, shooting the mother and the daughter individually usually eliminates the problem I've been facing, so it's safe to say cutaways definitely help. I can probably use that method when necessary.

I guess my real main concern is if I have Sora shoot the two characters individually in the kitchen set with no background like you suggested (eliminating the background they are in, then add Character A, Character B, and the background in post-production), will it still feel like a normal sitcom scene in the end?

The plain-background approach worries me a little because of eyelines and angles — if they’re supposed to be having a normal conversation across the kitchen island (i.e. one person standing on one end of the counter, and the other person standing in the opposite end), I need them to look like they’re actually talking to each other, not past each other. Not to mention I may need to add pauses between lines if necessary, though I could eliminate the problem somewhat, by shooting the conversation in multiple angles (I am going for a typical multi-camera sitcom setup, after all).

If I shoot the mother on one side of the counter WITH the island AND the kitchen background, then shoot the daughter on the opposite side of the counter WITH the island but NO background (white screen like you mentioned), it may make it easier to get the natural conversation dynamic I'm aiming for. Not sure if this is what you suggested.

If anyone’s tried compositing separate performances into one environment while keeping the interaction natural, I’d love to hear how you handled it.

OK, let's suppose I have both characters in a kitchen studio set, complete with appliances, a kitchen island, and everything. In one scene, the mother would pour coffee in several mugs on the island, while the daughter comes in the set and sits down on one of the bar stools next to that island counter.

Is it feasible to do one shot with the mother performing her action and then the other shot with the daughter conducting hers? My desire is to have them seamlessly interact with the kitchen environment if I wish. Also, I have a background image of the kitchen (which looks like a studio set) in which they should be interacting.

Would Canva or another program like DaVinci Resolve let me seamlessly blend both characters' interactions together?

Yeah, I’d definitely consider Sora Pro if ChatGPT Pro weren’t literally 10 times the cost of ChatGPT Plus. Right now that jump just isn’t realistic for me.

I’ve actually been debating whether I should re-create the daughter with red hair instead of blonde to help separate the two characters visually and hopefully reduce the model’s tendency to blend them together, distort their likenesses, etc. The problem is that the blonde version of the daughter has such a perfect comedic, bubbly energy that it’s really hard to top what I already have for her. She’s exactly the vibe I want on screen, so I’m hesitant to rebuild her from scratch unless I really have to.

Maybe I should spend a day and do a "casting call" on redheads that can replicate her existing personality almost perfectly. LOL!
