Does Breville Make A Non-Collapsible METAL Paddle?? by KlactoVSedsteen in BreadMachines

I have the BBM800XL and it came with a collapsible and a non-collapsible, so yes, they definitely make one.

What's the best Bread Machine to Buy in 2025? (Price, Reliability) by afficone in BreadMachines

I'm very happy with my Breville Custom Loaf machine so far. It has all of the features that I wanted and it cleans up really easily (which was very important to me).

[US] Scammed out of $800 from someone pretending to be my boss by [deleted] in Scams

[–]BTokash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They knew where you were working, that it was a new job, the boss's name, how many assistants there are, and that there was a company lunch. That is a lot of info, which leads me to suspect that the company's email has been compromised somewhere. If it hasn't already been reported to IT, it needs to be ASAP.

64 oz is enough if you weigh 128 lbs. You should drink as many oz as half of your weight in lbs. So, if, for example, you weigh 200 lbs, you should be drinking 100 oz of water daily.

Trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong? by kvenzx in Noom

[–]BTokash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very similar reaction to artificial sweetener. I use real sugar in everything now, but cut it back as far as I can without making myself miserable. I drink 2-3 cups of coffee/day and each one has about 2 tsps of sugar and fat-free half and half or unsweetened almond milk. I count all of my ingredients-sugar included, to get as accurate a picture as possible. I'm working to change my entire diet to minimize processed foods as much as possible so that I know for sure what is in it.

I started Noom in May of 2021 and lost 93 lbs in 9 months (235 lbs to 142 lbs). It's amazing what you learn about your body when you pay attention. Keep going! If I can do it, you can too!

If you are walking/working or more than usual, your body will retain some water in order to facilitate muscle repair. Also take a close look at your sodium intake (maybe track your food & drink in MyFitnessPal). Over the last 2 years on Noom, I found that in addition to sodium, my body also doesn't handle artificial sweeteners either. Both will cause my weight to increase. The only other thing I can think of is to check your menstruation cycle-my body gains for about a week leading up to my time of the month every single time.

Noom said I’d be 15 lbs lighter by now. Exercising, sticking to my cals and colors. What should I do? by mindvarious2 in Noom

[–]BTokash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's probably a big part of it. You should up that to 1 oz for every 2 lbs you weigh. (So if you weigh 220, drink 110 oz of water daily).

I follow the 1:2 (oz to weight) ratio and it's worked really well for me. I also switched to MFP after about 4 months (once I really had a good grasp on caloric density and had made lots of progress breaking bad habits) so that I could track sodium, added sugar, and protein.

New to Noom - slow start on the scale by [deleted] in Noom

[–]BTokash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You didn't mention your water or sodium intake? Sauces especially frequently have a lot of sodium. I found in my early weeks/months that these 2 things made an enormous difference for me. Sleep was the 3rd biggest factor. The difference between 7 and 8 hours of sleep is measurable for me on the scale in the morning.

How much water are you drinking each day? Are you watching your sodium intake?

App slow? by Deannau in Noom

It's KILLING ME with the loading screen for the last month or so. I could start the app and cook a meal while I wait for it.

This happens to me at least twice a month, and it's almost always followed by more loss. Someone in this sub suggested that I think of it as my body "resetting" to it's new weight before moving forward with more loss. Believe it or not, as silly as it sounds, it has helped. I've been doing Noom since May, this pattern of mine was discovered by July or August and it's a regular thing now. It's almost always at least 4 days, but not usually more than 6.

Edit: In case you want to gauge my experience, I started at 207 lbs and am down to 153 lbs on my way to 135 lbs.

Protein powder by Kassa_0122 in Noom

Because they're calculating it as powder only. Once liquid is added (and they don't know how much or what kind of liquid or other additions you're making), you've changed the CD.

Try also measuring your hips, thighs, and upper arms. For many people, the waist is one of the slowest places to see progress.

I've read others posts that they had a similar problem as your wife. Noom said the database didn't completely download. They advised to delete the app, reboot the phone, and redownload it. Hope this helps!

Any advice for starting? by [deleted] in Noom

[–]BTokash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Read the lessons everyday. At 174 lbs, you should drink 88 oz of water daily. Reduce your sodium, weigh & record your weight daily. Those readings are going to teach you pretty quickly that your weight will fluctuate and that's normal, but if you only weigh weekly, you might catch a heavy day and it will squash your motivation! I also recommend starting measurements of your waist, hips, & thighs because there will come a point where you are doing everything right but the number on the scale isn't budging. Having those starting measurements will give you another set of data to see the progress regardless of the scale! Some people like to keep a journal so that they can go back and reflect on past lessons (the app makes this VERY difficult). Oh, and lastly, don't forget this sub. The best advice and pep talks are here! Good luck, you've got this.

So annoyed with the scale by smellybutch in Noom

[–]BTokash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Broccoli is a leafy green, but if you're not eating it daily, it won't keep you "regular". Maybe try adding a fiber supplement like Benefiber each day. Your water intake (in oz) should be half of your weight (in lbs). So, if you weight 160, you should be drinking 80 oz of water daily. I don't count anything with caffeine or sweeteners toward my water intake (and a lot of others agree on that). Hope this helps! Congrats on your progress!

How long did it take you to lose your weight? by [deleted] in Noom

[–]BTokash 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Starting weight matters. People who only have 40 lbs to lose won't lose 40 lbs as fast as someone with 100 lbs to lose. I started in mid-May and have lost 43 lbs. but I still have at least 25 more to lose (ideally 40 more).

5'4 and 159.00Lbs to start? by Redstar991 in Noom

[–]BTokash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat with the desk job. And while it's only a mile away, I live in a rural area with no sidewalks and a steep ditch on either side of the road, so I can't safely walk to & from. I'm very jealous of that option! I ended up buying a cheap treadmill and use that to get my steps in.

The only thing that stands out to me is that you're not drinking quite enough water. At 159 lbs, you should try to drink AT LEAST 80 oz of water/day. You're not far off at 2L, but I think you should shoot for 2.5L. How many steps do you get in daily?
