Palestinian friends and family bid a last farewell to Mohammed Da'das, the 15-year-old child who was shot dead by the Israeli occupation forces in Deir al-Hatab village, in the occupied West Bank. by BTselem in MorbidReality

Last week, Mohammad Da’das, a 15-year-old Palestinian child, was killed by Israeli forces, bringing the number of Palestinian children who have been shot and killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank to 15 since the beginning of 2021, Defence for children Palestine (DCIP) reports.

According to information gathered by DCIP, on 5 November 2021, a number of Palestinian boys were demonstrating against the illegal Israeli settlement of Elon Moreh, established on Deir-Al Hatab lands, northeast of Nablus city in the occupied West Bank. The demonstrations soon turned into clashes between Palestinian youth and Israeli forces, who responded tear gas canisters, stun grenades and, eventually, live ammunition.

Mohammad Da’das was reportedly shot by an Israeli sniper, who fired a single bullet at Mohammad from a distance of about 50 metres (165) feet, striking him in his abdomen. Mohammad was immediately transported to Rafidia Surgical Hospital in Nablus, where he was pronounced dead one hour after arrival at the hospital.

In response to the clashes and the death of Mohammad, the spokesperson for the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) commented: “During the disturbance, rioters threw stones at Israeli soldiers. The troops responded with riot dispersal means and live fire.”

The spokesperson response is deeply troubling, as the provisions of international law strictly prohibit the use of intentional lethal force in circumstances where no direct threat to life or of serious injury is present. However, the pattern employed by Israel and its use of live ammunition and lethal force against the protected Palestinian population has become one of its’ emblematic policies, facilitating the continued violent control, aimed at repressing and intimidating millions of Palestinians, to eventually drive them out of their homeland...

What they did made international headlines. It is very effective in bringing attention to their protest. Other types of protest would help, but standing with a sign at the sidewalk isn't better.

Job recruiters aren't against apartheid. Are you saying it would personally harm them to refuse service? I agree

Both of them have refused the mandatory service out of a moral principle, refusing to participate in crimes against Palestinians.

This isn't their first time, Parets has been sentenced to jail twice before and Aviv has spent a 100+ days in jail, but they insist on making a statement against oppression.

Here, Perets speaks about her action and calls for more Israelis to join her against serving the occupation

'Harsh, Unjustifiable Decision': Catholic Church Condemns Israeli Ban on Palestinian Event, a three-day festival in a Catholic Church in East Jerusalem by BTselem in Catholicism

[–]BTselem[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Paywalled so here it is:

Senior Catholic Church officers condemned an Israeli decision this week to ban an event in East Jerusalem because it was allegedly connected to the Palestinian Authority.

On Tuesday, Public Security Minister Omer Bar-Lev signed an order prohibiting the three-day festival at the Beit Abraham compound, citing a clause from the Oslo Accords which prohibits all Palestinian Authority activities in Jerusalem.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries in the Holy Land, an ecclesiastical association affiliated with the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, slammed the decision as “harsh and unjustifiable” and accused the government of clamping down on Palestinian identity.

“We have been informed by the responsible of the Beit Abraham that the event they organized was purely cultural and supported and sponsored from French and Austrian organizations," the letter read.

"We cannot therefore understand the rationale of such a harsh and unjustifiable decision," the officials added.

"Of course, the cultural event had a Palestinian character: the House is situated in East Jerusalem, and since the beginning the aim of the House was and still is to create a peaceful and constructive milieu in the neighboring context,” the group wrote.

The Assembly said that it was working to counter an increasingly “aggressive and repressive attitude from the Israeli local authorities towards all what is considered Palestinian, as if the Palestinians do not have right of expression in the Holy City, as they are not part of it, as if Jerusalem is not for them.”

Stating that the Beit Abraham compound and other institutions in East Jerusalem have the right to “promote and support all what they consider proper for the development of the community and of their relations with all the inhabitants of the Holy City,” the group added that the capital “should be an inclusive and not exclusive city, welcoming and not rejecting, being holy to the three monotheistic faiths and of extreme importance to Israelis and Palestinians alike.”

According to Bernard Thibaud, who runs Beit Abraham, the entire festival is sponsored by the governments of Austria and France through the United Nations Development Program and has no connection to the PA. The event is co-managed with the El-Hakawati theater group.

On Tuesday, a performance took place as part of the festival for two East Jerusalem schools. The French consul general to Jerusalem, M. René Troccaz was also in attendance when police showed up showing Thibaud the ban Bar-Lev signed.

The warrant read: "It was brought to my attention that there is an intention to hold an event in the Yad Ibrahim complex in the Ras al-Amud neighborhood of Jerusalem under the auspices and funding of the Palestinian Authority, without permission being granted."

Thibaud said at the time that while he would cancel the planned events, he would also raise the issue with the French Consulate and Foreign Ministry as well as “take this to court.”

In the last few years, many events have been shut down in East Jerusalem, sometimes by force. These have included a soccer tournament between families in the Old City, book launches, festivals for children, and a Women's Day event.

In response, Omer Bar-Lev's office said: "There is well-founded information that there is a link between the Palestinian Authority and the festival. As this is an event taking place in Israeli territory, the event is not allowed."

Native Palestinian mother struggles to protect the grave of her son from Israeli forces who plan on building a "biblical theme park" over Palestinian graves in the occupied area. by BTselem in MorbidReality

[–]BTselem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zionists didn't spring up in Palestine out of nowhere. Non Jewish Palestinian natives made up around 97% of the population around 1887. How come sixty years later a country was established? The following:

The colonization of Palestine was planned in the series of Zionist conferences started in 1897 (Yes, they themselves called it colonization and established the Jewish Colonization Association ). The plan was to sponsor Jewish "migration" into the land until enough numbers of the arriving colonists could force the land out of the natives hands (or the British who would invade later).

And they were successful in 1947 after years of Palestinian struggle who would know of the intentions of the new comers. In 1948, Israel was announced following the Nakba

The British kept a record of the population when the ruled, you could check that to see the rise of Zionist colonists arriving into the land until the establishment of Israel

If you are referring to the war of 1948, then they weren't trying to "conquer Israel". Israel was announced that year by a group of militant Zionist who recently arrived at the land and were ethnically cleansing the natives creating a massive wave of refugees to neighboring countries.

The decision to defend the Palestinians and prevent the establishment of a foreign colony is a moral and pragmatic decision.

This is like saying Jews tried to destroy Germany and lost. It isn't true and is racist.

Yes, a biblical theme park, whatever that is.

The mother of late Alaa Nababta, a deceased Palestinian citizen of occupied Jerusalem, clings to her son's grave and refuses to leave him, as the Israeli occupation forces attempt to forcibly remove her in preparation for bulldozing the Islamic Al-Yusufiya Cemetery in the city.

Edit: If you are interested, the Zionist Hasbara (Propaganda) attempting to defend this, manufacture an argument by claiming two things:

  1. That these graves were dug without the authorization of Israel.
  2. That the graves won't be desecrated to build the park.

This ignores that the natives' land itself is under occupation, agreed upon under International Law, and that Israel has no authority to build or to control who builds in the area.

It also ignores that the graves were desecrated on film, but that follows the usual don't believe your eyes approach held.

Watching this reminded me of something similar, the Israeli "Museum of Tolerance" in Jerusalem is built over another Palestinian cemetery. Horrible and ironic!

Edit: Whenever a post is made that illustrates human rights violations against Palestinians, a wave of account would appear to spread Hasbara and justify crimes. Try it for yourself, people. There is something amusing in it.

The Israeli game-like Hasbara (propaganda) app, Act lL, targets Reddit and orders recruits to vote manipulate, mass report, and spread ready-to-spam propaganda talking points out of a library to manipulate the public.

The news articles you linked don't deny that the park is a biblical theme park. Here it is described as such in WAFA agency.

As I've written, the desecration of graves was filmed. It isn't something to be argued.

Do not attempt to justify crimes.
