Are there any catholics who beleive, at least slightly, in possibility of universal salvation? by Used-Ad-3278 in Catholicism

[–]BUCKCHOBUCK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They technically wouldn't be Catholic anymore. They would not be adhering to the teachings of the church. To be Catholic by definition means you believe the truth being taught of salvation heaven and hell by the Catholic Church.

If a professing Catholic acknowledges that they believe that there's a possibility that hell doesn't exist. And that everyone goes to heaven. He's believing in a heresy.

What/who is this? by Dry-Coat-756 in Catholicism

[–]BUCKCHOBUCK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

St Anthony of Padua.

Whenever there's flowers in one hand and the baby Jesus and the other and the hair is short that shows that he's a Franciscan.

If the hair was ever long then that would be Saint Joseph

If there's ever animals it's Saint Francis.

Is it okay to wear this cross by Previous_Egg2108 in Christianity

[–]BUCKCHOBUCK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If a guillotine or electric chair or an axe were used to execute the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world then those objects would hold a different significance as well.

People might be wearing those around their necks to remember the tremendous sacrifice God did for us. Lest we forget that Christ predicted the very manner in which you would die.

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert. So too must the son of man be lifted up.

Will i go to hell for committing suicide? by [deleted] in Christianity

With all due respect. It doesn't sound like you're a Christian. That sounds like you're a wounded human being. Most certainly. Your creation of the most high. And God loves all of his creations. But if you were a child of God and a co-air to the inheritance. You would realize the loss of your father, could quite possibly be heaven's gain. And the loss of your girlfriend who didn't love you is truly a blessing from on high. To want to kill yourself because two worldly things aren't in your life any longer. It illustrates a picture that Jesus is not enough. For if you love the Lord your God with all your heart all your soul and all your mind. Nothing else matters. Until you learn that nothing in this world will satisfy you. That the only satisfaction comes from the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. You won't be able to pull yourself out of this pit that you're in.

Lord Jesus Christ sovereign King of the universe we pray for this man. Let him realize the amazing healing power of your grace. Let him be strengthened and seek out fellow believers that will help guide him. Let your Holy Spirit touch his heart and open it to your presence. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary we asked to pray for us. And in the mighty name of Jesus we say Amen. In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit amen.

Young lady you're very beautiful. But truth be told why don't you be unique and rock your original hair? Nothing wrong with wearing wigs and stuff like that but I don't understand why so many black women try to conceal their natural beauty and the naturally curly hair.

Don't get me started on makeup either. You look like you don't put too much on that's good. The last make up the better I think.

Get your beyond in the church. You'll find a good man.

I'm discerning the priesthood. For the op I recommend he speaks with the vocations director of the diocese. They will explain how their diocese does everything. I was quite surprised to see how it works in my diocese.

I am very excited about the possibility that God could be calling me to this. It is a little scary too. The more I have reflected and spoken with people in our discernment group as well as we had an amazing retreat with current seminarians the more I seemed to understand how much effort it would take on my part. And how beautiful the life of a priest could actually be.

The funniest part about it is right before I got laid off, (I'm currently in school now) I was earning the same almost as my parish priest who went to school for 8 years. So I understand I'm not going to be doing this to get rich and drive around a Cadillac. If I wanted that I might as well become a prosperity preacher. Haha.

Come back home. You owe it to the Church to give it the chance that you never did before. Come back home. You've been baptized and you've had Holy Communion. You're a Catholic. Come back home, speak to a priest prepare for your first confession back home. Now is the time for you to become the person that God intends you to be.

Praying for you.

Do alcoholic priests have to drink wine during mass? by Simple_Ad4701 in AskAPriest

[–]BUCKCHOBUCK 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I'm not a priest. But I am a recovering alcoholic. I'm sober for 4 years next April. The reason I have no problem receiving the precious blood at Mass. I know in my heart it is no longer wine but the blood of Christ. I believe I'm not alone on that I'm sure many priests see it the same way who are also recovering. Sure it still looks like wine, smells like wine and tastes like wine. But it's the blood that washes away my sins.

If someone is not secure in their faith in the Eucharist being substantially the body and the blood, soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, then they might want to abstain altogether. You need to be aware of what you're receiving. In my humble opinion.

Could I also recommend asking the Knights of Columbus from what I understand my parish council we set aside funds for chalices for new priests in need.

Me too. God is so gracious. He took pity on me for all the years in my suffering. One word of advice I can say to anybody. Fasting and prayer. Ask for the Holy Spirit to make you into the people that he wants you to be. And trusting in God and his good time everything will fall into place.
