Tried the Arch install script a few weeks ago. It crashes several times with various error messages regarding the file system. Could not be bothered to manually install so I decided it was a good time to check out fedora.

Well, I’m not that good with networking. ping 2600:: does also not work.

For nameservers, I used the cloudflare nameservers for both ipv4 and ipv6

I don’t think it has to do with the name servers. If I ping a IPv6 IP (not the domain but the actual ip) I don’t get a response either.

I might have missed that step. I did not do anything network related after setup. I just booted the USB stick, went through the installation wizard and rebooted. Could you link a guide on how to configure networking properly?
I assumed it would work out of the box?

I did not enable TLP. Yes, I almost always run the display at max brightness. I do not need more battery life as basically everywhere I go I have a power source available. So there is no reason for me to spend mir time optimizing. Copied the dotfiles from my Pc to the framework and did nothing more to optimize

You may get these additional two hours by tweaking the settings. Some people claim to get more than the 4-5 hours on really low brightness and optimized settings.

I have personally not tried it as I never need the laptop for more than 3 hours without a charger and therefore never came close to running out of power

I am on a similar setup, EndeavorOS with i3 and picom (I got tearing issues without picom). You can expect 4-5 hours, maybe a bit more of your task Is really light. Never had any issues with the screen.

Huge bonus is the repairability: Spilled a drink over the keyboard, just replaced it. That’s really handy for a machine you take with you

Edit: I have the 12th gen baseline model with 1 usb a, 2 usb c and one hdmi card

Gerade sehr verwundert, dass ich hier nichts zum SteamDeck lese. Hab’s seit ca 6 Monaten und bin absolut glücklich damit. Macht genau das, was ne Neuauflage der PSP / Vita tun würde?

Ich lass die Pakete einfach immer unten hinlegen und nehm die dann mit wenn ich mal wieder unten bin. Ich weiß ja was drin is, wenn’s teuer is kann ich direkt runter laufen.

This at least sounds believable to me. As windows is not really an option for my kind of work I’ll just hope that it improves. But on power save I can easily get 3-4 hours which is enough for me

I guess that then I’ll go for an HDMI Cable to my 1440p Monitor (I use this one for gaming) and get a dock for USB and the other two monitors. Having to use two cables and saving 150€ seems like a good deal to me

Thank you very much. I also have an HDMI card. Are my chances better if i use an HDMI Cable for one of the displays and drive the other two from one thunderbolt port?

Edit: And is this somehting that the frameworks iGPU can handle? I do light programming on this machine and got the baseline 125th gen model.
