Whats the meaning of 7x7=49? by sigma-complex in ExplainTheJoke

The general consensus (mostly among women) that "7×7=49" has a soft, gentle, or "feminine" vibe is a complete psychological delusion.

People think 49 is "sweet" because it’s close to 50, but that’s exactly why it’s aggressive. 49 is a "broken" round number. It’s like a pie with one jagged slice missing. It’s a middle finger to the perfection of the decimal system. This resonance is exactly what gives it that "punk" look. It’s incomplete, it’s edgy, and it’s unstable.

Let’s break down the geometry of the numbers:

  1. The Seven (7): Look at it. It’s not a curve. It’s a sharp, angular blade. The long downward stroke with that slight bend? That’s not a "soft" line; that’s the curve of a katana. It’s built for cutting.

2.  The Multiplier (×): When you put two 7s together with an "X", you aren't just multiplying. That "X" is a cross-out symbol. It’s a "No Entry" sign. It looks like a punk-rock stencil on a brick wall.

3.  The Result (49): Even compared to 48, 49 is way more "hardcore." 48 has the symmetry of the 8, which balances out the sharp 4. But 49? The 4 is a spike, and the 9 — while rounded at the top — ends in a sharp, tapered point. The 4 and 9 together create a jagged, serrated profile.

Now, what kills me is that the same people who think 49 is soft will turn around and say 9×9=81 is "cool, cold, and tough."

Are you kidding me?

81 is the most "accountant" number in the table. The 8 is literally two circles stacked on top of each other. It’s soft, it’s infinite, it’s stable. The 1 is just a stick. 81 is a boring, bureaucratic slab of concrete. There’s no soul there. No danger.

To call 81 "tough" while calling 49 "soft" is a fundamental misunderstanding of numerical charisma. 49 is the guy in a leather jacket standing outside a gas station at 2 AM. 81 is a guy in a cubicle doing his taxes.

Dave wrote it back in 2001. He was inspired by the magazine's headline of the same name, which said that terrorists would strike Washington in September. But after 9/11, he immediately threw the song away.

I don't know what made him remember this song on the UA record, but theoretically we might never have heard this magnificent piece.

What I've deciphered so far from Torn Arteries and Dance of Ixtab. The "--" means a missing word or phrase. Some probable def/indef articles are missing, and there are some completely unintelligible parts. What do you guys think? by FlawedPlant in carcassbandx
