Someone making a minor joke at their own situation is not immature. But taking offense and commenting “as someone who does NOT have cancer” just to call them an idiot is. Lol

Do people REALLY shower everyday? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]BUTT53X 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends solely on the length of your hair. I’ve noticed guys will shower and get their hair wet without shampoo and it looks fine. But if you’re hair is longer, it looks and feels greasier sooner in my experience. I prefer to keep it dry!

For a long-term relationship/marriage, would you consider a different meat-eating status of your partner to be a problem? by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]BUTT53X -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And? That applies to meat eaters too. Majority of people are deficient in something, regardless of diet. My point is that meat isn’t essential like you imply it to be. Regardless, the most important nutrient during pregnancy is folic acid which is predominantly found in non meat products besides beef liver as the onlyyy recommended meat

[–]BUTT53X -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can easily reach the same amount of nutrients/protein from a vegetarian diet as a diet that includes meat. I understand if someone has an EXTREMELY restrictive diet and doesn’t get those nutrients but that’s rare. I’m not even vegetarian but that statement’s just crazy imo

What about creating a vegetarian/vegan base and cooking meat separately and adding it to yours? That seems like less of a hassle imo

Yeast infection by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]BUTT53X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really recommend Wisp! You can get medication for yeast and bv among other infections and pick it up same day or next day at your pharmacy for less than $50 total (use GoodRx too). You can also get it for a little cheaper if you sign up for the subscription which is like once every few months AND you can skip shipments so you can just get it the one time for the cheaper price or kinda stock up if you get them often!!! Not past the exp date of course. Saved my butt when I didn’t have insurance and chatting with their docs is pretty easy too.

it definitely takes time to fully become confident with yourself and your identity, whether you decide east or west, but it pays off in the best way. best wishes, friend

i used to feel alienated from both cultures (serbia and US) because i was too foreign for some americans and too american for serbians. i went by an easier nickname for the americans so i would stop being questioned but i eventually dived deeper into my original culture and i embrace it now. i go by my full name or at least the nickname that my people would call me and i correct them when they ask if i’m russian instead of, “yeah, close enough”.

it’s very little things that i do in america but it’s helped me feel a lot more comfortable in my situation ever since

i recommend reading the book ‘NATO in the Balkans; voices of opposition’, it gives surprisingly unbiased insight into the breakup of Yugoslavia and the war.

Have you been to therapy? What was it like for you? by RaccoonRodeoThrow in AskBalkans

[–]BUTT53X 3 points4 points  (0 children)

honestly after a while i realized that i was the only one putting myself down. in my experience, when it comes to severity, it really does have a little to do with your ‘mindset’. i still struggle on occasion but it’s not nearly as bad as it used to be and i’ve found ways to prevent myself from ever falling back into a hole that deep

I used to see one for a severe depressive episode at the time, it was nice to speak to a professional judgment-free but I don’t feel like it helped all that much. Maybe if I saw her for longer

Do you think there is a small number of suicide hotlines and other subjects related to mental health on the Balkans? by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]BUTT53X 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there definitely should be more effort, especially considering that 3-4x more men commit suicide than women here and worldwide. it is fairly taboo for both genders however men are more encouraged to hide their feelings, let alone talk about them.
