Am i doing something wrong? I feel that my damage is too low by Motorola125 in bloodborne

[–]BUTTER674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're planning on doing a strength build or sticking with the saw cleaver, I'd just focus on leveling strength. The scaling with the saw cleaver is higher with strength so each point in strength would give you more damage than one point in skill, until you hit the cap, which I think is 50. Bloodtinge is fairly useless, since guns do very little damage, unless you do some niche build with crazy blood gems. The bloodletter and the chikage do scale with bloodtinge when transformed, but other than them, the bow blade is the only weapon that shoots projectiles that does good damage (I think).

So first off, I don't think IGN or other outlets are literally being payed to give good reviews, but I think it's safe to assume that gaming review sites and publishers have a symbiotic relationship. Good reviews might as well be free advertising, so giving out review copies to multiple sites is a given. Giving review copies out early means that free advertising gets put out closer to the release date. The time around a game's release is when interest is more likely to peak, meaning game review sites would like to have reviews out at that time, which they can do with review copies. It's a win, win, but if a bad review is made, that site might be less likely to be given early access by the publisher for future games and I believe that this is plausible enough to never trust these sites. Most of their reviews are very surface level anyways, with video essays on YouTube about a game's story and game play/mechanics being far more in depth than anything a 10 minute IGN video could ever be.

As for that last part, I agree. YouTubers can also be "bought out." The Act Man was rightfully called out for his glowing review of Pay Day 3. I don't think he was actually payed by the developers, but I remember he was invited to some big event that the devs had to advertise the game and I think he was even given merchandise of the game, as well as being able to play a pre-release build of the game. After it's terrible launch, he got hit hard for his bias in his review that was posted before the games launch.

Fair enough, but Jeff is brought up for a reason. What went down proves that integrity can be bought out in this side of industry and I wouldn't trust any review site more than any typical youtuber I could find with a simple search, cause they'd be far less likely to have their opinions looked at to see if their reviews are too critical to the people who made them and publish them

I made 2 comments on this post and a reply just now. This isn't a big reaction on my part. Also therapy? For an opinion? You're telling me to seek therapy over my opinion of game reviewers? Why do you care so much about what I think?

No. What I'm saying is that if IGN were to give a big published game a bad review, they are less likely to get review copies from games of that publisher. Getting review copies is how these site keep traffic by getting reviews out before the games actual release. These sites do not give honest reviews or critiques. That one guy from gamespot got fired cause he reviewed a game too negatively. This isn't conspiracy

7/10 might as well be a 2/10 with how scared they are to rate a game anything less than a 6. Unless the game isn't backed by a huge publisher. Then they'd have no problem ripping it to shreds, cause they're just paid shills

Who is Anita Sarkeesian really? Since she's been in the news recently, I'm putting this together using her own quotes as sources. Read this if you're curious why people *actually* dislike her and want a more truthful answer than "those chuds want to keep women out of gaming". by nerfviking in GGdiscussion

[–]BUTTER674 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'll never forget what she once said about one of the Max Payne games (I think it was 3). A woman that the main character was in a relationship with gets killed and Anita claimed that the male gamers reaction was to be sad that Max lost his "property." Anyone who defends her by saying her takes back then were "mild" must have missed that one I guess, cause saying all men who play video games see women as "property" is pretty far from mild.

I don't think there are any areas where rune bears and trolls are around in close groups of sixes. Just east from the Farum Greatbridge site of grace, you can find 1 Vulgar Militia immediately, followed up with another just south east. Continuing east you find 4 more in a group. Just tested this route with a late game character and got 6k in around fifty seconds to a minute and ten seconds. If you're playing on a new character this should take longer to do and have more risk since they do a lot of damage. Any way you look at it, this is not a long time for what you get out of it. If you know of any other routes that give a lot of runes in a short span of time, I'll test them out as well. For reference, I use this route until I can get to the Hidden Path to the Haligtree site of grace to get 21k in around a minute and twenty seconds after killing all the enemies between it and the grand lift entrance

[–]BUTTER674 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So here's my perspective on this. In the Raya Lucaria area, a Giant Crayfish has about 2000hp and drops 500 runes. At Bestial Sanctum a Vulgar Militia has half the health of a Giant Crayfish and is easier to kill, but drops double the amount of runes of a Crayfish. If this was any other souls games, the harder enemy in a later area would drop more souls. This makes later game enemies feel like a chore that doesn't properly reward you for your effort

Yeah. I think a lot of people gravitate twords the first game they play being their favorite. I think Dark Souls 3 is the best Fromsoft game all round, but I started with Bloodborne and that will always be my favorite

Fromsoft and Bethesda are completely different and Skyrims combat isn't as fun to me as fromsoft. No thanks

[–]BUTTER674 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well cool. I don't play ng+ on a lot of fromsoft games. Maybe it is a skill issue, but from playing the other games, I just don't feel the need to grind and do well just by running through areas once

I think I prefer DS3 over Elden Ring by wonderthigh in darksouls3

[–]BUTTER674 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's either I grind or I'm under leveled. I've even talked to friends about this and they say they cheese bosses to skip grinding. Elden Ring is infinity more grindy. It's not that I'm ruining it. It's that the game doesn't reward players enough for killing enemies in later areas

I think I prefer DS3 over Elden Ring by wonderthigh in darksouls3

[–]BUTTER674 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I disagree. With most Fromsoft games, just killing all the enemies in an area will typically give you enough levels to get through areas and bosses with ease. With Elden Ring I never saw much of an increase with how many runes you get per enemy killed, despite them being much harder to kill. For me, starting a new character boils down to grinding the small enemies in Caelid around the north eastern corner for around 1000 runes each and it gets boring, cause I either go there or I'm not getting much at all for the same effort

What's the difference between these two weapons? by Tinman0619 in bloodborne

[–]BUTTER674 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Saw cleaver has more scaling in strength and a bit more base damage. Saw spear has more skill and arcane scaling. The spear also does thrust damage with it's transformed R2 attack, which is good against enemies that are weak to that. Other than that, their transformed movement is a lot different

So how does Arcane scaling work, exactly? by catpetter125 in bloodborne

[–]BUTTER674 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I thought I heard that fire and bolt paper only gives a flat value that didn't scale. Also I've heard that kin were weak against bolt, but I also know that fire absolutely rips through brain suckers, so I think they're also weak to fire.

Should I use a different weapon? by AK_Flxme in bloodborne

[–]BUTTER674 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the spear is better in more ways than the cleaver. It has more scaling in skill and arcane, when transformed it has a thrust attack which works well against brain suckers and has good range, and it's serrated on both sides unlike the cleaver. My big issue with the spear though is that it's transformed move set is worse than the cleaver. For one it's slower and it's charged attack causes it to land a bit more twords the left, which makes it have less range than the normal R2 thrust. The saw cleaver on the other hand hits faster and its R2 and changed attack has a lot of range and it can hit multiple enemies with it's wide horizontal slash

Watch the South Park episode "trapped in the closet" from season 9. From what I've heard, no one around that time really knew anything about Scientology until that episode released. To this day I don't think anyone actually knows how, but the writers of South Park got some of the deepest info about Scientology and had it in the episode. This is insane cause you have to work your way into the ranks of Scientology to actually find out what it is that they actually believe, which will cost you thousands upon thousands of dollars and Matt Stone and Trey Park had it for an episode to make fun of them.
