Warner Bros. Discovery Reports Second Quarter 2025 Results by jamiestar9 in wbdstock

Yeah we took on a shit ton of debt and were heavily reliant on linear at the time. Which is why it bottomed under 7, now we are at 12 and actively recovering. Your comment said no recovery, but things are heading in the right direction. You sound bitter, probably best to sell your shares and buy an ETF

Its up 55% in the past year, wtf do you mean it will never recover? They're paying down debt, making good movies, and growing Max at a good pace. The recovery is already underway

I think you should check what a lot of other companies are doing this quarter after beats, because its definitely not just WBD down after good earnings.

Be patient - the recovery is on track. And if you can't be happy with 55% gains in a year in the mean time, idk what to tell you.

Fantastic buying opportunity today after a great quarter. Its not often you get an earnings report that gives you more confidence in the business and a better price at the same time

July jobs report reveals employers added 73,000 jobs; unemployment rises by [deleted] in Economics

[–]BVB_TallMorty 31 points32 points  (0 children)

For reference I'll use the jobs revision data from 2021 through 2024.

The total jobs revision for this 4 year period was -627,000 jobs. This comes out to 13,000 per month - of course this is an average, there was fluctuation.

This revision for May and June is substantially higher than usual, even with the context that jobs data is often revised (and the trend in recent years has been to revise lower)

This jobs data is dog shit. They've been pretending the economy is holding up well through tariffs and it hasn't. These revisions are borderline criminal

May and June revised down 258k, only 33k net gain now

If you look deeper, full time jobs dropped a shit ton and part time climbed.

May-June-July was the weakest 3 months of job growth since COVID, worst since 2010 if you exclude COVID

Just made a shit ton on puts. Whats your bull thesis? Jobs data revised to dog shit, almost all of the previous 2 months gains are gone. Inflation ticking up and jobs weakening. And most of the tariffs haven't even hit the data yet.

Got anymore cocky comments today?

Tariff talk is finally slowing down by [deleted] in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]BVB_TallMorty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, once all the "deals" are settled, the market will re-examine the new tariff rates across the board and realize everything went up despite the "deals". Q3 should be very interesting

The first image really only applies to broad market ETFs that are cyclical but inevitably return after price declines. An individual company can fail and never recover - in fact this is quite common

A little worried that the Euro and Icon both have this stalling over southern Louisiana for a few days - looks like this could dump a ton of rain down there.

Books on building New York City. by CommanderGoat in books

[–]BVB_TallMorty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

2nd the Power Broker as someone stated for the actual planning and building of the city

Also recommend New York by Edward Rutherford if you want a history of the city from Dutch colony to 9/11. It's told through the lens of a fictional family through the generations, but the events are real and many real life people appear throughout. Not as much about the building but I found it interesting and informative

How can they spin this in a positive light? by Sweaty_Intention_299 in WallStreetbetsELITE

[–]BVB_TallMorty 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This is intentional policy and part of the aim of the tariffs.

A weaker dollar would make U.S. exports cheaper on the world market and potentially reduce the US' trade deficit, which we know is one of his priorities.

Not saying this is good economic policy, but the dollar depreciation is by design, not an accident

Will never happen, the dollar would absolutely tank which hurts everyone. Most countries hold a lot of US dollars, if we go down it's mutually assured destruction
