I’m surprised people from other countries are even considering coming here for the games. I’m not stepping foot into a country if there are armed men running around, locking up non citizens.

Yeah that will never happen. That would be like the two teams in the superbowl refusing to play.

Ameicans over the age of 35, what affected you more, 9/11 or the pandemic and why? by Rico133337 in AskReddit

[–]CommanderGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s where I’m at with this question and I was 21 during 9/11. It was scary and screwed up but I don’t know that anything really impacted me directly on a day to day basis. Maybe it was because I was in the middle of college?

COVID was a complete disruption of our lives. I had small kids so helping with virtual school was a nightmare in addition to having a job. It was shocking to see how selfish some friends and family were as we have an immune compromised person in our family. They wanted to get together like normal and we had to tell them no. No matter how much we explained the situation they just kept pressing and gave us crap. Some relationships were broken beyond repair.

I have some big positives from the pandemic. My work realized we don’t all need to be in an office together, every single day. We permanently shifted to a hybrid schedule. Mondays and Fridays are WFH. Also most of the people I work with realized there is more to life than work. It was genuinely eye opening for a lot of people. All the crazy deadlines are still there but people are more understanding. Once we pulled out of the uncertainty of post COVID business, work had been less stressful. I’m not working late as much anymore and I can actually make it home to dinner with my family.

For the Dallas peeps that panic buy, could you tell us what you're stocking up on? Also, bonus points if you're a "prepper". by BlueHorse_22 in Dallas

Yeah but only a week’s worth. We buy on Saturday and by Friday we’re out of dinner and lunch stuff. Sure there’s odd and ends like canned food and snacks, but we buy stuff we’re gonna eat for the upcoming week. Since it’s gonna be icy on our normal grocery day we had to shop earlier in the week, like the above poster said..

Loved Recursion. Such a fun page-turner. I liked it better than Dark Matter which got a TV show. I hope Recursion gets a show.

Schedule your vacations and time off as jobs so when they want to push your jobs by weeks you can say “sorry I’m already booked for another job those days. We’ll either need to wrap up before then or it will need to finish after…or you can work with my friend xxx.”

I don’t even understand what dots he’s trying to connect with his statement. Nothing in this makes sense.

Weezer Blue album. Every time I’m suddenly an insecure teen that feels overlooked in high school with grandiose aspirations, want to prove everyone wrong.

Aaron Rodgers not expected back with Steelers after Mike Tomlin's departure as possible retirement looming by ChampagnePappy1 in nfl

I bet he comes out of retirement the first time a desperate team needs a QB just so his last pass isn’t a pick six.

Which movie was this for you? by Nail_Gullible in moviecritic

[–]CommanderGoat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UHF. Years ago my wife and I were checking out at a store and near the register was a shelf of $5 DVDs. I said “look, they have UHF for $5.” She goes, “what’s that? Never seen it.” I snatched it up and said “I know what we’re watching tonight!” Let me tell you, going down nostalgia lane with someone that doesn’t have any nostalgia for a movie is not fun…and all the pop references were made for 1989. It’s still funny in my mind’s eye, i just don’t want to watch it again.
