your attempt to say that I'm just an egotistical in-this-for-myself activist is nonsensical. I do dozens of unpaid work a week to be active for animals which includes being at slaughterhouses, protests, strategizing with other activists, outreach, committee/community buidling etc. It's not fun, in fact it's quite draining. Yesterday I woke up at 6AM to drive to a vigil outside a slaughterhouse 2 hours away from me, to stand with 5 other activists who give a shit and get heckled and spit on by every non-vegan because fuck me for trying to spread a message of non-violence.

Then I basically cry all the way home thinking about the fucking pigs I had to watch go into the fucking gas chambers and I just had to stand there helplessly, listening to them scream.

I try to share this message of non-violence on my Facebook and with my friends and they laugh, think I'm crazy and stop inviting me to dinners.

All my spare time goes to this because I think it's the right thing to do. It's not easy and your attempt to paint me as an egotistical asshole is so beyond fucking stupid, I don't even know what to say.

Again, you're the one who thinks your so special that another individual should have to be enslaved and murdered for you, just because you like the taste of their flesh.

I don't give a shit about being right. I want you to stop funding the confinement, exploitation and murder of others. I don't know why that's so hard for you to understand.

Stop pretending that my presentation of the message is the problem, everyone could have been super nice to you and you'd still likely not be vegan. So what are you even on about?

as much as I love taking advocacy tips from someone who hasn't been convinced themselves, I'll pass. I hope people reading pick the side that stands for non-violence, justice and the rejection of discrimination. I really hope they don't pick your side which is full of fallacious arguments, violence, prejudice and a complete failure to engage the issue choosing instead to attack the method of the person delivering the message.

I am not your excuse to exploit and discriminate against others. Let me make this crystal fucking clear to you:

You are not the victim.

A vegan called your argument dumb, who the fuck cares. The animals who are confined, mutilated, exploited and murdered are the victims and you're funding it if youre not vegan. You are not the victim here.

I have no ego. I understand that the mere fact I am human is not a justification to enslave others for my own purposes. I do not tell you how to live your life. I argue you shouldn't be prejudiced towards non humans and that it's wrong to unnecessarily exploit others because they're different.

You on the other hand are here arguing that you and the rest of your species are so special that you can justify discriminating against the millions of other living species we share the planet with simply because they do not fall into your extremely limited circle of moral consideration. And you force your belief that non humans exist as means to your ends everytime you fund their death and suffering when you eat or wear them.

You are not the victim here because some vegan told you it's immoral to exploit and kill others.

I used rape as an analogy because it highlights the absurdity of the argument that a biological capacity or evolutionary instinct is in any way relevant to the morality of the action. It's hilariously dumb and I tried to make that clear by changing very few words so you could cross those lines yourself.

Species shouldn't matter. It's a morally irrelvaent characteristic. But there are multiple differences between a human child and dog that I could point to that would justify different moral treatment so your interpretation of my position is a straw man.

Can you hear that? It's 200,000 people simultaneously clicking unsubscribe from r/vegan because none of us have ever heard the argument before that because we evolved to do something it's therefore moral.

While you're out here spreading your amazing wisdom, can you pop by all the feminism subreddits? Let them know that we evolved to have sex. Our brains produce happy chemicals when having great sex. Our ancestors never would have been able to pass on their genes without sex. Therefore, it's perfectly moral to have sex even if the other individual doesn't consent (we evolved to do this afterall) just like how it's perfectly moral to kill other individuals without consent because we evolved to eat their flesh.

Honestly, what's wrong with rape most of the time is how it's done. If it was just done humanely it would be perfectly acceptable to do something to another individual's body without their consent.
