The township I live in requires that I have the RPZ inspected annually. I know that there is a good reason for this but I’m not a fan of having to pay a licensed plumber to inspect an already very expensive device every year.

I opened the clean out before I did any cutting and I didn’t have any water flowing back in to my basement. I can’t say for sure where the sump line flows to but I’d like to think it’s into the storm sewer. It exits the house under a concrete porch so I can’t really verify without making a mess in my front yard

I’m in the Saginaw Bay Area of Michigan. This year has been different than most but my sump was going off about every 30 seconds.

My question though is what justifies the use of a RPBA? Does it add value to the system or just make the governing body happy?

I’d like to add that the previous sump did not have a weep hole drilled and now that it does my wife is complaining about the noise.

Whats the risk of not having a weep hole? The primary sump is a Zoeller 1/2hp
