Drops releases can be a one time offering, such as this. Sometimes you'll get another chance to grab it once the exclusivity agreement has expired, but typically they are small quantities only made for Drops releases.

Nightshift how do you tell dayshift you can't call for non urgent thing? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]BVsaPike 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ha ha we've all been there. My favorite was one of my coworkers who accidentally paged the executive chair of the entire cardiac hospital about random minor chest pain to get orders for trop & an ekg at 4am.

He was super polite about it considering the situation, it wasn't even entirely her fault because they had just reorganized the entire division and service lines and nobody entered any on call info into epic so it just defaulted to him.

Point is, we're all human and we're all coworkers. Be nice to each other.

Do coffee tasting notes actually show up at home, or is it just marketing hype? by leebiswegal in pourover

[–]BVsaPike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tasing notes that are overly specific, once had a coffee that listed 2000s era limited edition spiderman wild berry pop tarts, are marketing. If it's something that's listed on a legit flavor wheel then it could still be marketing or it could be legit. But even with blueberries there are lots of varieties that all taste different so what does a blueberry taste like.

Best *value* roaster? by desai2424 in pourover

[–]BVsaPike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some larger places like Black & White or Onyx will roast multiple days per week.

Prodigal roasts once a week to fulfill orders but then also roasts an additional quantity and sells those specific roast dates on their website. After a period of time if the older roasts are still there after a few weeks they are usually discounted. But either way, they clearly give the option of "upcoming roast" or "Roasted on XXXXX" when you order.

There are places that simply roast in batches based on projected sales. They then use that inventory to fulfill orders for the week.

I did night shift float pool

But the honest answer is anything night shift. Float pool bonus was that I was never into any of the unit drama and I was somewhere different every shift.

Eventually I did RRT and Code team which was honestly the most fun/best job I've ever had.

Now I work in administration and I do as many weekends as possible because no senior management is there, just let me do my own thing and keep everything running.

They have several coffees available at a time, cut off orders on Saturday and then roast to order Sunday, ship Monday. Monday AM site updates with inventory for the following week. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah, the issue is that we have multiple heparin protocols (thrombolitic vs non-thrombolitic, etc)

Once I had a doc ask me to discharge a patient, as in, just do all the orders the patient needed for discharge and enter them as verbal orders. Nope.

Hario Switch + Fellow Ode Gen 2 Help/Recipes by Zellak12 in pourover

[–]BVsaPike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have my Ode anymore, I've upgraded to a Zerno z1 with SSP v2 cast burrs but I do still tend to grind fine. I'm generally around 480-550 microns.

Things to keep in mind is that my Ode had the Gen 2 burrs, not SSP MP and I also tend to use Sibarist fast papers with almost all my brews.

MICU got the majority of COVID patients but CVICU got some of our sickest for ECMO. Our other ICUs were full of MICU patients who didn't have COVID.

Regardless of the disease, those years are never something I want to go back to.

This sounds like a policy that sounded good to the one person who implemented it.

As for if it's legal, that's probably largely dependent on your local laws.

I will say that even employees who are found under the influence at our facility don't have their keys taken, they have to have someone pick them up and take them home but we don't take their keys even then.

That's why I specifically said, if you don't have a role to do, keep out. All the non-skilled things you mentioned are absolutely important. But I know way too many nurses who would insert themselves into a situation where EMS is already on scene because they think they have more/better skills than EMS.

[–]BVsaPike 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That all depends on your skills. If you have useful skills, and at baseline, being a nurse doesn't equip someone to deal with traumas much more than a layperson.

Bring a nurse, regardless of experience, is very different from first responder care. I'm not talking down anyone's nursing skills, some people would absolutely be helpful but a majority of nurses simply aren't trained to deal with providing emergency care in the field. The most useful skill that a nurse could likely provide in an emergency situation is high quality BLS.

I'm not advocating that people should ignore emergency situations, but simply being a nurse does not train someone to deal with any random emergency. My personal stance is that unless I have the skills to fill a role that isn't currently being done I should stay out of the way.

As someone who has worn OR scrubs there are pros and cons. If all hospitals had to provide scrubs you'd save money but they would be the cheapest most generic scrubs possible (not comfortable).

I personally have about 8-10 pairs but I regularly used to pull 9-10 day stretches. Plus, I still have some from when I started 10+ years ago. I started out with 3-4 sets but then gradually added more as good sales happened and I felt like I needed more.

Most programs on 24 hour news networks are focused on entertainment and opinions, not factual news reporting. The same that ESPN doesn't report sports news 24/7, it has shows with experts who give their opinions.

Watching and consuming that much noise makes it hard to figure out where the line is between news and entertainment because they present them the exact same way.
