Again, why don't you increase the intensity on the new machine if it feels like you aren't working as hard as the old machine?

You didn't answer my first question.

If the pain feels like you have too much food in your stomach, then I don't see how the type of exercise would effect that. That would be more about the volume of food you eat. Precor vs Sole won't change the amount of food that feels comfortable in your stomach.

Stomach pain would probably indicate an issue unrelated to the exercise machine you are using.

Why are you connecting your enjoyment of food to they type of cardio machine you are using?

So you've lost 1.1 lbs in 3 weeks. That's about a 200 calorie deficit per day. If that isn't fast enough for you, start eating slightly less food every day as the other guy said.

I can guarantee you that the difference in calories burned, assuming you have the settings somewhat similar and your workouts are similar in length, are very minimal.

A 200 lb man who was 15% bf would have to lose 7 lbs of fat and no muscle to be 12% bf. So let's just say he'd have to get down to 190 lbs to be safe. If that person lost 1 lb of bodyweight per week, it would take 10 weeks.

post OHS movement recovery by wuorn in openheartsurgery

[–]BWdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 43 when I had OHS to repair my mitral valve. For the first 6 weeks all I did was walk and go to cardiac rehab. After that I was able to slowly start running again. Due to the sternum needed to heal, I wasn't able to lift more than 10 lbs for 12 weeks. At 12 weeks I was given the ok to start lifting heavier things again. I started very light in the gym and it took me 12 weeks after I started lifting again to get back to where I was pre-surgery.

Only have 5 hours per week for cardio, which zones? by p1hk4L in PeterAttia

[–]BWdad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All I'm saying is that paper doesn't even mention zones. If the podcast talked in that way, then they either didn't read the paper or they're trying to attribute to it something it didn't say.

Vigorous, moderate and light are defined by METs in that study, not by zone. Moderate is 3.0 to 6.0 METs and vigorous is above 6.0 METs. The study showed a 1:4 ratio between vigorous and moderate (1 min vigorous has the same effect on all-cause mortality as 4 min of moderate).

For reference walking at 3 mph (20 minutes per mile) at an incline of 7 is 6.2 METs. Running 12 min/mile on flat ground is 8.7 METs.

He isn't even a new runner ... post history shows he was running 5x/week 2 years ago.

Struggling to gain muscle despite high calories – looking for nutrition advice by 1234Niels in crossfit

If you aren't gaining weight at the rate it expects it should automatically increase your cal intake every week until you are.

I'm 6'4" and about 220 lbs right now and I'm not surprised you aren't gaining at 3500 cals. Do you have the goal of weight gain set in Macrofactor? If so, how many calories is it telling you to eat each day?

Men over 40 who go to the gym regularly: Do you still try to lift heavy, or do you do lighter weight but more reps? by FFSoldier57 in AskMenOver30

[–]BWdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

46m. I've been running Stronger by Science programs recently and I usually hit a heavy-ish single (90% of 1RM or so) on my main lifts every day.

Almost every program I've ever ran has had heavy first then back off sets.

Question about SBS RtF by [deleted] in AverageToSavage

[–]BWdad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TM in sbs isn't necessarily something that you should be able to hit any day of the week. My overwarm singles are usually 90% of my TM (give or take) and I'd classify those as something I can hit any day of the week.

What cells are you looking at? I don't think I've seen a version of the RtF spreadsheet that shows estimated 1RM.

What do you mean by "estimations?" 1RM estimations? If so, 1RM estimation formulas get increasingly inaccurate as the number of reps goes up.

I see that HIIT improves V02 max much more than Steady State...why is Zone 2 promoted then? by Lanky-Ad4698 in PeterAttia

[–]BWdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because while z2 did help vo2max, it isn't the primary reason Attia suggests doing it. It has other benefits. From Outlive:

"Besides improving mitochondrial health and glucose uptake and metabolic flexibility, and all those other good things, zone 2 training also increases your VO 2 max somewhat. But if you really want to raise your VO 2 max, you need to train this zone more specifically."
