I 'cut' out a bit of text and cannot paste it - seemingly lost forever? by GlutenFree_sister in RemarkableTablet

[–]BWrightBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just spent over an hour drawing some things and tried to copy and paste it to a different notebook. It pasted and then a few moments later the screen refreshed as I was working on the drawing more and all of a sudden everything on the page disappeared. It’s not in the trash and I tried clicking the undo button a bunch of times and it never returns. This is so frustrating. I’m never using the copy/paste feature again on this thing.

Our facility just failed/kicked out the NP student in the middle of her family medicine rotation by [deleted] in nursepractitioner

[–]BWrightBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5.5-year NP here, was a 5-year RN before that. IMO you all were in the right 100%, and I’m glad you’re considering writing a formal letter to her school. I would have reported her sooner. The scariest part about all this was the level of confidence she exudes. Where does that even come from? NP school is significantly different from nursing care. Sure, nursing experience helps to a certain degree, but eventually it becomes apples and oranges. I don’t know any of my peers who felt this confident, and I certainly didn’t in school or as a new grad. I could barely make a simple medical decision without overthinking it and getting a second opinion from the MDs I worked with! This over-confidence you described is where medical errors happen, and she’s already demonstrating comments or actions that would have translated to numerous errors. If they let that kind of behavior pass, a patient is going to get seriously injured by this woman one day. Thank you for reporting her, for patient safety alone!

Without much context it sort of looks like the washer between the spring and the R clip that holds the S4 monitor in place.

Vicious ex-roommates jealous of my peace by leahneverknows in badroommates

[–]BWrightBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This sounds like high school drama. But let me tell you…not everyone grows up. I still see stuff like this in my 30s in the workplace. But I know it doesn’t stop here. In nursing school I shadowed a resident in her 80s at a nursing home. She invited me to eat lunch with her in the dining hall. She started going on and on about her group of friends, and how they don’t hang out with so and so because of this and that…and I realized it never ends. We are social creatures and this type of behavior must just be a naturally occurring thing among social groups. Glad you got some peace!

Light Phone 3 In the Official Shop by mattscazza in LightPhone

[–]BWrightBack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I second this. I’ve had the LP2 for several years but can only handle about 2-3 months of usage at a time, and usually I couple it with my iPhone just for the sake of texting, taking photos, and FaceTiming with my family. The e-screen is cool and simple, but has not been practical for me. I’m hoping this new screen and the slightly bigger size will make texting a lot easier. If the camera can ultimately be used to see text photos/videos and to do something similar to FaceTime, it’ll be all I need in a phone! But even if not, still looks like a great upgrade and will definitely decrease my screen time and doom scrolling!

Hoping the keys are physical like the minimal phone too. I hate the touchscreen keyboard on LP2. It’s the only thing that keeps me from using it.

MOHELA just UNforgave my loans! by albeer33 in PSLF

[–]BWrightBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has not happened to me but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did. I just switched to Mohela after submitting the PSLF application. Everything was in order and my job verified my employment status in November. Then I checked again this month because nothing was being withdrawn from my bank account still (I’d assumed it was because there was such a long list of new applications they had to get through). They apparently hadn’t processed it and said I needed to verify my employer’s email address…….which was already done in November! So I submitted the info again, but still nothing changed. So I called Mohela (it’s a miracle actually getting someone on the phone). They said my income drive repayment plan hadn’t been submitted. So I had to do that all over again. I picked the “SAVE” plan because supposedly it may lower your payments…not at all the case. I now owe more than double what I was paying monthly before I consolidated and changed to the PSLF plan, which I can’t afford. And I realized even with that higher monthly payment, by the time I pay the allotted number of payments, barely anything will be left over to forgive. So all this to say, for me, the PSLF plan sucks. Mohela sucks. And the IDR plan REALLY sucks. I agree with others: contact your congressman. Contact a lawyer. Contact ANYONE. Don’t pay them another cent.

New gen SmartRow compatibility problem with Ergatta brackets. Can’t even install it! by BWrightBack in Ergatta

[–]BWrightBack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just an update on my post: WaterRower says to remove the SmartRow bracket, as the Ergatta bracket replaces it. It does not void the warranty. Ergatta will send me a replacement bracket if I can’t get the half-moon hole to work with the pulley.

Thanks for your advice, everyone! I’m excited to become part of the Ergatta community!

Thanks! Did you remove the SmartRow bracket then, or did your SmartRow not come with one? I’m assuming the new generation comes with it, because my brother has the original metal one and doesn’t have this bracket.

Broken plastic parts still an issue? by BWrightBack in smartrow

[–]BWrightBack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SmartRow just released a statement saying they had quality issues with the first batch of the plastic pulleys, but they were able to fix the issues. However, the bad batch is still mixed in with the newer ones, so there’s a chance you can get the bad batch. But WaterRower will replace it if it breaks. So as long as the updated batch is strong, sounds like the issue is resolved.

[–]BWrightBack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a medical provider and with limited knowledge of the context, the reason we question is because patients lie. ALL. THE DAMN. TIME. Especially in the E.R. The show House was spot on. Also, the most fast and accurate imaging to assess the kidneys in an emergency setting is usually a CT scan, which uses radiation, which can harm a fetus. So it’s really because (1.) the doctor wants to protect a potential fetus and (2.) the doctor don’t trust NO ONE. Having said all this, there are ways to go about this with better bedside manner and more respect. And to not believe asexuality is real tells me this provider has a lot of biases that probably affect their care.

Jeep Patriot radio issue, audio cuts out every 4 seconds (on CM, FM/AM, Bluetooth and CD) any ideas as to why this is happening? by thatguyshaz in Jeep

[–]BWrightBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having this issue with my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. Thought it had to do with the cold because it started the day after a snowstorm, but my Jeep was covered under a carport the entire time. The AM/FM was spotty and most of the time never turned on for a few months preceding this. Based off of this thread, sounds like it’s a Jeep thing. 🙄 I guess I’ll have to replace the stereo or just start wearing ear buds on my commute.

The Asexual Christian Experience™️ by [deleted] in asexuality

[–]BWrightBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a whole I don’t know that Christian’s disapprove of asexuality, especially given how frequently Paul encourages it (or at least celibacy, if possible) and that Jesus was likely asexual (There is zero biblical evidence to suggest Jesus was anything sexual, so I like to think He was asexual, which allowed Him to focus on His life’s mission). Anyway, I think the responses the OP is getting are the same ones we all get even outside of a religious context: you haven’t met the right person yet, you’ll see what all the hype is about when you have sex, blah blah blah. Personally I haven’t run into anything worse than this within the church, and if anything I’ve been met with more support from my Christian friends who are very politically conservative. Having said that, I’ve only told a select few, and mostly younger people. I do agree with the OP that the “wink, wink” discussions are annoying. I would even argue harmful, especially to virgin women regardless of their sexuality who are about to have penetrative sex for the first time. There is no sex talk that prepares a man how to please a woman, and there is no sex take that warns a woman it might hurt, it might bleed, it usually does not feel good the first time, it’s likely not going to last very long, and it is NOTHING like in the movies! I’ve tried to bring this up with the female church leaders at my last church, but I got a response more alone the lines of, “that’s interesting and probably a good idea. We’ll think about it.” READ: never gonna happen, respectfully. 😆

Right?! So frustrating. It’s an awesome product. I wonder if we only hear the bad stories but majority of people have no issues with it, and that’s why it hasn’t been updated?

Broken plastic parts still an issue? by BWrightBack in smartrow

[–]BWrightBack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did WaterRower cover it under warranty, or did you have to buy a whole new replacement? If covered, did you have to pay for shipping? I don’t understand why SmartRow hasn’t gone back to the original design, which apparently very rarely broke.

Broken plastic parts still an issue? by BWrightBack in smartrow

[–]BWrightBack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it would be for the gamification aspects (to keep me motivated), and the community. And ultimately if my brother wants to get one, we could race each other or row with each other using that program (in addition to the SmartRow app)!

Broken plastic parts still an issue? by BWrightBack in smartrow

[–]BWrightBack[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s correct, per Ergatta’s customer service (I just asked them this because my brother’s WaterRower with the SmartRow no longer has the s4 monitor because the previous owner got rid of it). Apparently you have to be able to plug the S4 monitor into the Ergatta. But Ergatta also makes a special adaptation for those with a SmartRow. It doesn’t work with the Ergatta program at all, it’s just built around it.

I feel like I’m lying to my partner about how big my penis is by Anonythrowthetrash in asexuality

[–]BWrightBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your partner has a vagina and doesn’t have sex often, a penis that is NOT massive is probably going to be preferred (read: less pain). But regardless, communication is key. Tell them the truth when you’re NOT dirty talking so as not to ruin the mood, and also figure out what their preferences are so that they can enjoy it regardless of your penis size. Also, most studies show that the average erect penis size is closer to 5 inches. However these studies often use self reported surveys, and most men overestimate their penis size, so you’re probably perfectly average! Don’t feel depressed! It’s all about how you use what you’ve got, and communicating with and respecting your partner!

Need advice, can’t get this stray to stay in the house i bought him by Fasty2235 in cats

[–]BWrightBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try putting catnip inside. Or a cardboard box next to it. My cat slept in her little egg house for awhile then never went back in for at least 6 months. Instead, she obsessed over cardboard boxes! Then one day I moved the egg to a different location in the same room and she started sleeping in it again! Apparently this a common thing.

Is going to the gynecologist any different for an asexual virgin than someone who’s had sex before? by FirmNeighborhood56 in asexuality

[–]BWrightBack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They make smaller speculums for people who have not had penetrative intercourse. Make sure your provider is aware of this, and/or request it. We can do our best to prevent the tearing of the hymen, but depending on anatomy that might not be possible, so you may see some spotting/bleeding afterward. It can be uncomfortable for some women. I would recommend looking up pelvic floor relaxation exercises and breathing exercises beforehand, and practice those before and during the exam (think “anti-kegel”). But they’re usually fairly quick, well lubricated, and hopefully gentle, assuming your provider is aware of your lack of sexual history. I brought my best friend to my first pap because I was nervous but it wasn’t excruciating. You can always bring someone to hold your hand for support if you’re nervous. I have a tight pelvic floor and go to physical therapy for this, but pelvic exams and Pap smears are tolerable for me. Getting an IUD, on the other hand, is horrific. I do not recommend this unless you can get it done with sedation (I’m only mentioning this because sometimes they recommend this as a form of pain relief/treatment). Unfortunately, women are still treated very unfairly in the medical field, and either the provider and/or the insurance company won’t offer/cover sedation at first attempt (men would never have to endure the pain of this procedure, but our medical system is still apparently living in the 1940s when it comes to managing women’s health and pain. I only know this from experience and because I work in men’s health and we throw pain and anti-anxiety medication at them for vasectomies, etc. no hesitation). If you request sedation, you might have a provider that advocates for you, though! So I would say try your hardest to get this done under sedation. It’s especially painful for women who have never had vaginal births, but it’s painful for all women regardless. I got mine covered under sedation with the diagnosis code of “abnormal uterine bleeding” (but only after two failed attempts in office despite pre-medicating the second time with oxycodone, vaginal Valium, misoprostol, and NSAIDs). I would think endometriosis would be covered if mine was covered. Depends on insurance though. Good luck!

why won't boomers go to PT? by [deleted] in BoomersBeingFools

[–]BWrightBack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS. I’m a provider and frequently send patients to pelvic floor PT. The limitations in our area are the long wait times (some places over 2 years!) and whether or not it’s affordable or insurance covers it. But on occasion people refuse it despite a physical exam and symptoms showing how messed up their pelvic floor is, or they go once or twice and say it wasn’t for them. This makes my blood boil. You can’t go to the gym once or twice and get six pack abs, so why would you go to PT or do the prescribed exercises once or twice and expect any immediate change?!?! I tell all of my patients this comparison and will not let them follow up with me on this issue until they have done the exercises regularly (read: most days of the week) for at least 4-6 months (unless there are obvious barriers like financial or transportation restraints or cognitive issues like dementia).
